Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

City now remind me of Arsenal in Wenger's final years
Decent players, capable of putting a team to the sword but have a real soft underbelly and only hoping for CL qualification
I agree with this needs some steel. We are really weak mentally at the moment

I thought the defence was playing really well until the penalty but our response after the penalty was non existent. Khusanov is a bit reckless but his pace is vital. Bobb looked lightweight. Marmoush may not be brilliant but he works his socks off. I fancy we need players who work their socks off this season! Early days but we do not look hungry or good enough for a title challenge. I would take a CL place now.

Brighton were there to be beaten simple as that, don’t even know what I’m watching anymore, what style we play, game plan, all appear to be non existent.
We had a throw in edge of their box went back to the keeper and didn’t get it back for 5 mins.
The state of our touch was shocking, effort non existent. I’m really confused.
Just said the same to my mate, don't know what the game plan is, everything looks a mess

We have dined out royally over United being shit. ..the truth is, we are sleepwalking into where they are now.

Some here have been claiming we need a transition year….transitioning into United levels of crap by the looks of the past 18 months.

Doku
Lewis
Unfortunately Nunes at RB
Possibly Bobb
An aged Bernardo
Reijnders - on the last 2 showings
Ait Nouri
Marmoush - reluctantly

None good enoug to be elite - perhaps we're not trying to be anymore.

Not going to win anything with our defence at the moment. Without Gvardiol there's a severe lack of actual defensive ability. Khusanov did well but ultimately fucked up with a pointless foul for their first - he's a young player, you can accept that. Dias failed to step up and play them off for the second after Stones gave it straight to them. Ait-Nouri suspect defensively but more worryingly totally ineffective going forward so far. Nunes, don't make me laugh. Lewis isn't a defender either but at least he's not giving away penalties and throwing games away.

Feel sorry for Trafford, deserved much more.

Those calling for Pep out, if you can't name a manager to replace him then shut the fuck up. You think there's a manager that can win the title with Nunes playing at right back? He knew that guy wasn't up to it within weeks. And don't give me Delph or Zinchenko. Nunes' problem isn't that he isn't a defender - it's that he's stupid.

Recruitment hasn't changed a bit. Too complacent and focusing on the wrong areas. If it's a money issue, then signing both Khusanov and Reis was a mistake when we have 3/4 centre backs who need to go sooner rather than later. Should have been a right back and a centre back in this summer.

Haaland needs to look at himself too. Should have had a hat trick in the first half and the game is over.

The positive is that Rodri controlled the game for the first hour until his legs went. Pep should have been brave enough to bring Nico on after that.

I still don’t think it’s time to panic. I’ve already accepted we’ll struggle again this season, there’s just to many new faces and players coming from injuries. I want to see an improvement on last season and there’s still plenty of time for that to happen.

I said a few months ago one of Peps biggest challenges is getting to know who is trusted players are. There’s really only Rodri and Haaland who are shoes in, you couldn’t say that two years ago.

Remind me what idiot wants this calamity Nunes to be our starting RB?
Fucking loads on here mate, it's unbelievable.

I and a few regulars called him out all last season, he's fucking shite.

What with falling over in the first half, watching a ball out that actually landed with 2 Brighton players in the second!

He doesn't even look arsed when he commits the latest blunder to cost us a game. Just smacks on his chewing gum and couldn't give a toss.

We are shit and have bought poorly, again.

Even at 1 nil that was crap, all Brighton had to do was raise it 5% and we couldn't live with them.

Not convinced with RAN either, who the fuck is scouting these players we buy?

Feels like same problems as last season…

Don’t take our chances
Keep opposition in the game

Can’t deal with the energy of their subs
Pep doesn’t have any steel on the bench

Ran out of steam
Zero creativity

Overrun through the middle
O’Reilly & Lewis are not “chasing the game” subs

Beaten by SIZE SPEED AND STRENGTH!!

Not to worry, though, eh, when even an FOC can see it, yet we spend £100Ms and end up with the same problems as last season!

The next two games loom large on the horizon and negative results do not bear thinking about! Wonder how many injuries we will pick up to add to those we are already carrying after only 3 games?

Two MASSIVE positives: Rodri & Trafford.
I’d add kush to that apart from a rash yellow he didn’t do anything wrong

Pep has become the problem.

I know the hate will flow typing a comment like that.

It’s time we put our big boy pants on and made the proper decision.

The man is untouchable due to everything he has done for us but it’s clear he has lost something. The winning machine he created is long gone. He doesn’t look like the same ruthless coach.

He said, he would not want to be the problem.

We have an awful decision to make but make it we must or accept poor performances each week.

Pep stays and turns this around I will have made a fool out of myself but that my feelings as of today.
