Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

Every team we play against they look fitter, quicker and physical.
They aren't. It's just they run forward. So bizarre to watch. This liverpool arsenal game will look like a different sport. We're so ponderous and dull. Rodri looked decent though if we're looking for positives, also Khus was alright as well.

Absolutely frightening the drop off in quality, even from last season.

There is so little quality in the team now.

We don't have the technical skill to play from the back, and we lack the physicality to play more direct.

A shambolic 2 years in the transfer market with no thought to what kind of team we want to be after the old guard have gone.

These are fruits.

Pep has become the problem.

I know the hate will flow typing a comment like that.

It’s time we put out big boy pants on and made the proper decision.

The man is untouchable due to everything he has done for us but it’s clear he has lost something. The winning machine he created is long gone. He doesn’t look like the same ruthless coach.

He said, he would not want to be the problem.

We have an awful decision to make but make it we must or accept poor performances each week.

Pep stays and turns this around I will have made a fool out of myself but that my feelings as of today.
I’ve always been pep in but doing the same thing over and over again is insanity especially when you can see it coming from a fan point of view! As soon as the subs came on it was 30 seconds to see how the game was going to change yet we did nothing

Brighton were fucking rubbish for the entire first hour, but we never looked like scoring again. 1 stupid error and we absolutely wilted yet again - they seem to just give up at the first sign of a battle!
Something has got to give here. We’ve spent a fortune since the treble win and we look drastically poorer for it. I really worry about next week, United will know they can beat us.

Football has moved away from Pep football.

The days of this system are gone.

Managers and teams have come to terms on how to deal with this type of system.

Plus in a Pep system you need players all over the pitch with legs and obviously top players to contribute, We don't have either.

Winning 1-0 . Looked very solid. Everyone was playing well. Then they brought on 4 subs all at once. Seemed like a last throw of the dice for them and we didn't react and defend as a unit.
We shouldn't lose that game. Good can turn towards ugly and that's what happened as margins are small at this level. Confidence will be low and I'm not sure Pep can bring us out of this little blip. A long wait until the Derby.
We let the game drift. Loser's mentality.

No steel in the team. We used to have a team of hard bastards. Now we don’t. I don’t know if any of the new signings are any good, but none of them strike as being like Vinny, Nigel, Ferna, Tevez, Sergio, Yaya, Dave, Kev.

Last year was a disaster and yet it took until october for the collapse. End of August this year. Peps time is over. That's some number 2 we have brought in , we are now worse if that could be believed. Has the club lost it's ambition ? what's happening cannot be allowed to go on.
Its all very well bringing in Klopps mate but why have we let the "Corporate Memory" of one of the truly great groups of players dissipate to nothing? Zabba, Sergio, Kev, Vinny, Dave, Yaya (Ok... fair enough), even Gundo looks like he'll just get shown the door. The group mentality has been allowed to taper away to nothing...

I don't know the answer but it just seems a bit odd to me...

I disagree but I take your point.

Maybe you’d be doubting Pep less if the club had backed him by getting the players he wanted …. Jude, Rice, Wirtz etc rather than sub standard lightweights acquired on the cheap

The thing is I’ve had many an argument defending Pep against the morons who called him nothing but a cheque book manager.

He would win league titles with Delph and Zinchenko at LB and with a false 9. What made him great was his tactical innovation and turning good players into great players.

We have a squad full of good players but he’s not turning them into great players anymore. We have far better players in this squad than people think.

The football is stale, restrictive and quite frankly boring to watch.

That's utter rubbish. We were dominating the game and switched off
