Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

I haven’t forgotten that it took Walker to really trigger our golden years. Before then we were being caught out just like we were today. Khusanov and Nunes are key, they have pace. You can’t control 90 minutes of the game. We were wide open for the last goal, it was shocking.

Love Pep and will forever be grateful but it’s time to move on. The club need to stop being obsessed with net spend and start to sign world class players again and not project/2nd class players who can “do a job”. Club has been sleepwalking since the treble and its arrogance is astounding.

I’d add kush to that apart from a rash yellow he didn’t do anything wrong
He does need to cut that out of his game. It was that needless challenge that gave them the free kick that the penalty was conceded from. His pace is a major plus and he'll no doubt be a great asset but he does need to think a bit more rather than diving in for balls that he has no hope of winning.

1 nill up, controlling the match.
Then completely stopping to play football.
Brighton lucky we were gifting a schoolboy penalty.
High line clownery once again to gift a winner.

Awful.

We are not finishing in the top 6 this season under Pep
It's cruel watching a master manager on the touchlines being taken for a ride

Haaland is 100% coasting and does not want to play and get physical and hurt and bleed for the club and badge

Absolute bollocks mate. Haaland scored which was his 88th in 100 games. He was lively first half and scored. We stoped creating anything second half as Brighton woke up and pressed us and our out dated passive approach was punished so Haaland hardly saw the ball. Haaland was the least of our problems. Regardless of not playing to his strengths which is quick transitional football he nearly always bags for us. So your post is a little odd.

WHO at the Club has got the balls to say to PEP ok you are done and thank you and good night

I'm starting to dream of a Mancini type defence, where we actually soak up pressure and defend like a team.

We've spent millions on defence and can't defend as a group.

Its obvious that we can't defend a high line, yet here we are every fucking week for the last 40 odd games.

I keep thinking is it me, am I missing something? High line, no pace, get beat, but do the same the week later?...

I think the players know it to and it shows, no desire, completely pointless.

WTF.

Someone at the club needs to put their big boy pants on and have a word.

Pep has become the problem.

I know the hate will flow typing a comment like that.
Pep needs to recreate himself -
It’s time we put out big boy pants on and made the proper decision.

The man is untouchable due to everything he has done for us but it’s clear he has lost something. The winning machine he created is long gone. He doesn’t look like the same ruthless coach.

He said, he would not want to be the problem.

We have an awful decision to make but make it we must or accept poor performances each week.
Pep needs to re-create himself and start insisting on the very best, rather than believe the hype that he can polish any turd into a top level player. Needs to stop abdicating responsibility over recruitment. Before he came to us he allegedly told the club who he wanted - now it's like Ready Steady Cook - here you go - make something of this lot.

We were playing ok first half and looked in control.

Not for the first time we faded and looked incapable of matching them second half.

Maybe lack of matches but also some players need to up their level.

Rodders excellent, a huge positive to see him looking like his old self.

RAN maybe not 100% but he has got to be better.

We will get better but there’s probably going to be more days like this for a while.
Seasons

The thing is I’ve had many an argument defending Pep against the morons who called him nothing but a cheque book manager.

He would win league titles with Delph and Zinchenko at LB and with a false 9. What made him great was his tactical innovation and turning good players into great players.

We have a squad full of good players but he’s not turning them into great players anymore. We have far better players in this squad than people think.

The football is stale, restrictive and quite frankly boring to watch.
Agree fully. There are good players in this squad. Maybe it can’t match up to the very best we’ve had, but what we are turning out is utter dross. It is systemic and it all goes back to the coaching staff .
