This is what I don’t get with Savinho the way he played at Girona, he was direct and scored goals, shots from outside the box etc. it’s what made him so dangerous in La Liga.

Was he playing against boxes that were packed to the gills in La Liga? Particularly in the second half, he kept trying shots that basically weren't on, rather than passing or, better still, getting accurate balls over? It has to be said that his shooting, when it did get through the ruck of players, was either going wide, high or straight at the keeper. Amorim changed it substantially in the second half, putting a block of five across the back, and a screeon of three in front of them. Something which, I've been given to understand, he doesn't normally do in the Portuguese league. Suddenly, the wings, where we'd been getting so much space, were congested.
