Huge game this, a must-win really in terms of our position and the games running out.

No excuses on fatigue as we had a week off into the Forest game and produced that shitshow, and another full week off leading into this; lets hope they practice crossing the ball into the box and shooting this week.

Please play Gonzalez for a full 90 mins; just by standing there in the middle of the pich he makes us harder to play through. Please also play Foden a full 90 mins IN THE MIDDLE - just stop with the OAPs who cant run and get bypassed. You can field 1 of them (KDB/GUNDO/KOVACIC/BERNARDO), maybe 2 at a push but finishing the game last week with Kovacic, Bernie and KDB shuffling about wont scare anyone anymore. We are in major trouble at right back with whomever we line up against Mitoma - just cross our fingers and hope for the best is all we can do in that spot until the summer.

Id restore Grealish on the left and plonk Doku back on the bench - his ability to be in great areas but not cross the ball is unparalleled. We will need to keep possession and Grealish is a far better exponent of that art. How Id like to see us line up

Ederson

Lewis
Dias
Khusanov
Gvardiol

Gonzalez

Foden
Gundogan
Savinho
Grealish

Haaland

Unfortunately we have to introduce these players into the side when City have passed their peak. I suppose the target of 4 in a row, trumped long term rebuilding
That's the crux - there's neither any real identity nor winning mentality to 'absorb' a new player any more.
Only Khus of the latest influx looks as though he knows what's being asked of him, at the moment.
The sooner Pep moulds some sort of recognised team again the better.
What happened to the two-pronged attack with Marmoush, that was going to free up all this space for Erling?

With this team and Pep's selections, its a puzzle. Games going forward need Marmoush, both Nico's and Doku and Savinho. Its about getting top 4-5, not a nostalgia "run in".
No puzzle, and the older players have been featuring less and less.

Marmoush has to start.

-----------Ederson
Lewis-Khusanov-Dias-Gvardiol
-------Nico----O'Reilly
---------Grealish
Marmoush----Savinho
---------Haaland

This would be my team. A 4-3-3 but with Lewis and Gvardiol stepping up when we have the ball.

I'd play Grealish centrally. O'Reilly to break into the box with his running power.

Subs: Doku, Bobb, Foden, Bernardo, Echeverri, Ortega, Kovacic, Reis, Mcatee

Bobb has been out injured all season..O Reilly looks a good player and needs a few games to see how he goes..the other two are players for the future..next season probably
I agree O’Reilly needs a few more games hopefully it’s with us and not sent out on loan never to be seen again.
He really can’t do any worse than Gundo, Foden or Bernardo

In a must-win game like this, I hope to see the old double-pivot - just like in the days of Yaya and Fernandinho. So, it must be time to see Gundo and Lewis in there. Their reappearance is well overdue, as starters.

Come on Pep! You know want to!!
;-)

As ever at the moment, very difficult to pick a side for this. I’d probably go:

———————Ederson—————
Lewis—Khusanov—Dias—Gvardiol
———-Gonzalez—Gundogan—-
Savinho——Marmoush——-Grealish
———————-Haaland————

Add up their minutes this season and their assists and goals scored, piss poor for wingers at a supposedly top club and a million miles below the levels and Leroy, Sterling and Mahrez.
They both flatter to deceive with poor decision making and final balls.
Does Pep tell them to continuously hit defenders legs when attempting to cross the ball?
I'm not alone in thinking that then!

Why do I keep seeing people name Gundogan in City teams? Early round of FA Cups. Off the bench when we're winning. Likewise KDB. Gundogan is 34.

Edit: Or was that tongue in cheek Fordyboy?
