Brilliant, reasoned and pretty fair article by Samuel.

Since the takeover, Samuel is one of the few journo's to defend us on a number of occasions. As for the story, there seems to be more to it than we know. If Cook ends up getting the boot because of it, then it would be a shame as he has done a lot to make the club more proffesional(yes ironic if the allegations are true) and more customer focused, and has made huge inroads into bringing the club closer to the fans again.

Far too many coincidences for my liking. Not sure I'm convinced with the Kia conspiracies - If true, whoever is on the inside should be for the high jump and publicly.

As ever, I don't think we the public will ever get the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Wouldn't quite go so far as to use such glowing praise to describe it but is says what needs to be said.

Summarising it does appear Samuel thinks Cook's days are numbered irrespective how he comes out of this review.

As I said previously for such a well paid and important position Cook would have to be pretty thick or brazen beyond belief to assert that someone hacked into your email when in fact it was you that sent it especially when the obvious thing to do if in fact you did send it to a party that was not meant to see it is apologise and nip in the bud then and there.

If this ends up being the straw that breaks the camels back as far as Cook's tenure and he fesses up to sending it is concerned it is a bizarre act for him to undertake to help him get the flick.

Well he is leaving to go back to USA anyway, even before this came to light.

It's certainly a refreshing change from reading stuff like Ian Wright (hacks phlegm and spits) was spouting about this.

Fair comment. I don't always agree with Samuel but I think he's got it right on this occasion. If a respected and leading journo thinks that GC's days are numbered then it bodes ill for our CEO.

I thought that was an excellent piece, very balanced. I don't always agree with Martin Samuel (it would be odd if I did) but he is one of the few sports journalists in this country who seems happy to form his own opinion rather than just shouting with the crowd.

Probably the only journo to conaistently give us fair and balanced treatment since the takeover. Not special treatment — he criticises us when it's justified to do so — but he doesn't follow the Sky 4 arse-licking agenda slavishly adhered to by the likes of Beasley, Howard, the Custis gimps, Calvin etc.

Why the inaccurate headline though ?

There's no turmoil, one employee who has no effect at all on the team may or may not have acted insensitively.

Worthy of a 2 page spread ?

You can agree or disagree with what jounalists write but one thing that is not under their control is the headline, which is produced seperately.
Lots of journalists find people ranting at them when they have written a balanced article only for some sub editor to attach a completely misleading headline to it.
