Bristol City (Carabao Cup SF) Post Match Thread

I thought City were outstanding and totally bossed the game from start until the finish

Yes they scored two goals, but sometimes that happens. They were punts crosses into the box, and somewhat fortunate in my opinion.
Not sure we were outstanding but yeah we totally bossed it, we could have had a lot more goals too

Bluemoon has a lot of posters, who if they won $5M on the lottery, would complain if it was paid with £20's rather than £50's.
No. It’s the other way round actually. You can never get rid of £50’s,no one will take them off you. I get really pissed off when an inconsiderate bastard of a mother in law puts them in my Bithday card because she is too lazy to change them beforehand for £20’s at the bank.

Pep is the coach, it's his job to always demand better from his players.

Most of the posters on here are supporters and have every right to celebrate another dominating victory sending us to Wembley for a cup final.

Nice of you to continually pop by and piss on the parade though.
I think to become a true set of fans of a truly top club the fans have to be that demanding too. There has to be a culture from the owner to cheapest paying Seasoncard holder and everyone in between that complacency, losing focus or concentration, mistakes etc. are not acceptable at any turn at this club. We win and win well. We don’t give an inch.

Once that’s ingrained in an club’s culture from top to bottom that’s when you win and win and win again. Not just games, but sustained titles.

Leicester showed that anyone can win a title. But even City have shown in only winning two of the last six when we’ve had at least the third best (in many we’ve had the best) squad in each of those seasons that we don’t have that culture, yet!

Shades of last year's calamitous defending have been creeping in haven't they. Threw the Liverpool game in the space of 10 minutes and very nearly turned victory into a disappointing draw.

Sounds like your mother in law might be laundering money.

That was the high point of Man City fan loyalty. Wasn't always like that.

Bristol City brought loads to Manchester, and made a great occasion out of the semi-final. Did great against Utd too. I' sure they will be looking to grow their club so they get full houses every week. Loads of Manchester City fans gave the semi-final 1st leg a miss

Very true we had a siege mentality in that era , our current supporter base is a little "softer" , maybe the post 2009 City fan although very welcome are more expectant , i missed the semi-final as well but when we where in the 3rd tier i never missed a home game and would have walked over broken glass to get to Maine Rd. Which sums up a lot of our supporters (obviously i wouldnt recommend walking over broken glass :) we didnt start supporting our club for the glory , but our loyalty and perseverance is now being rewarded in spades and maybe i am also guilty of becoming slightly complacent of our numerous Wembley visits and trophies , although age and health issues also contribute in my case and possibly other old farts from our core support from the barren years.

Following City for 60 years I have seen rubbish and relegations and false dawns and poor teams lit up by individual brilliance, along with a few cups and moments of glory and almost glory along the way. Now there is a City to light up the sky, possibly to rank with the all time best in football. So I not only want them to win all four this season I want them to dominate football like Real did when the European Cup first started, like Barcelona did and that lot from Stretford, and I want it done in style with games that stand out in everyone's memory for years to come, I want Real Madrid putting 7 past Eintracht Frankfurt at Hampden Park and Hungary putting 6 and 7 past England in those two matches in 1953. Yes I'm getting spoiled but I think that's what Guardiola wants too.

I enjoyed reading these comments from Bristol City fans:

The interview post match KdB did leave a sour taste with some of them but someone did say in the forum that the bigger context that it was taken from was perhaps complimentary enough. Also, I think KdB is not that good with taking a diplomatic stance as he is very competitive. I would say judging from his workrate this season the most competitive of all our players and the one that seems to want to make the biggest point, perhaps to his doubters in the past.

Bristol City did very well to keep up with us and good on them for wanting to play football. I hope they get promoted as I rather them than watching a few teams in the league right now.

I agree with this but it doesn't happen overnight. I am sure when Pep was appointed it was mentioned he was here to change the whole mentality of the club. You can see now the players hate losing and are grafting like crazy in games to ensure it doesn't happen. Just lately we have become a little sloppy on occasion, especially at the back but some of this is due to playing the high risk Pep way he demands.

I hate to mention the rags but in their heyday they had that insane desire not to lose or even draw games. We are more or less there but perhaps we need a bit more of a nasty streak as well.
