Bristol City (Carabao Cup SF) Post Match Thread

Traffic OK until we left the motorway then absolutely minging. Couldn't park anywhere near the ground (the area we used for the cup tie 10 seasons ago is now permits only) so it was back over the Clifton bridge and parked up in Clifton. It was a 30 minute walk to the ground but all downhill.
We were in charge for almost all the game and I think we were two up before they mounted a serious attack. The defensive lapses will have upset Pep but I'm sure the happy-clappies will call him a rag as we won.
The walk back to the car wasn't as much fun because they'd turned the roads round and it was all uphill. Bastards. Traffic OK on the way home.
Wemble-E, Wemble-E, it's a shitty place in London and it's possible that we could be going six times this season. Kinnell!!

Why would anyone call Pep a rag?
 
Was Leroy’s finger to the lips celebration aimed at the Bristol fans? Couldn’t hear it but he must have been getting some serious abuse.
Watching it back this afternoon with a cuppa.
We controlled the match, match like most of our others apart from two really awful bits of defending.
Bravo didn’t really stand much chance for either tbf.
Is KW ok? Danilo is like bambi on ice and looks like someone who won a lottery ticket to play. Stones will hopefully get back to his pre injury state sharpish. Ota needs to command Stones if he’s not quite with it. Zinch got caught ball watching and dragged into the centre otherwise he offers good pace and cover for delphino.
Ferni was back to his usual solid game. Merlin and KDB AMAZING. Kun needs to play the easy ball sometimes, it’s not all about getting a shot off, he draws 3 or players to him, he should release it then. I thought Bernardo played really well his close control is frightening. Very happy we got through to the final, at least Bristol have given us better games than most PL teams. I hope they do well in the league.
Come on CITY, this is something I thought I would never see in my lifetime. I’m bursting with excitement. Would like to get Gunners in Final, we owe them big time.

You couldn't hear the booing every time Sane touched the ball when you watched it back?
 
BCFC here. Just want to add my congratulations to you and your team. I was at both legs and your sheer football quality is a pleasure to watch.
Last night ( more than the first leg) you were fantastic to watch, I didn’t want to watch and see how good you were! but have to admit that I stood there in awe at some of the stuff you played.
You really are lucky to be able 5o watch that week in week out, it must be a total pleasure.
We did our best, we knew we weren’t good enough to beat you without having an incredible amount of luck, our players did us proud over the two legs and that’s all we could ask for.
I really hope you go on and win it, in fact I hope you win every trophy your going for, because I’ve never seen an English based side play such great football.
Whether we have the strength in depth to seriously challenge our promotion rivals for the rest of the season I’m not sure. I really do think our players will have learnt a lot from playing you twice though, which can only help us.
All the best for the rest of the season, enjoy it .

Ps, just read the post above re Sane, he took some stick when he took your corners, every corner taker from every team gets the same stick in that corner, he got his own back though by scoring your first, he came across and did the old finger on the lip sshhh sign. Nothing more than that, we gave it, he gave it back, which is fair enough imo. It was interesting to see Aguero apologise to the home support at the same time though ( he didn’t need to) which was a class act from a class bloke/footballer.
 
The Stones errors are a worry.
One in the first half was really poor.
He did brilliant one minute winning the ball
Then he mucked about and let the same attacker to get back possession.
It was as if he forgot about the forward he dispossessed seconds earlier.
Good game that our midfield controlled.

Just read some of the posts on the Bristol City forum, you have some good level headed posters there
 
having watched the match - I can only 'drool' over the second goal - Aguero.
"City looked to have all but killed the tie early in the second half when Aguero's strike across goal rounded off a lethal counter attack."

We can all see that Stones is trying to get back to his form before his injury.
Also - we need him at our corners where he did score , maybe 3 - I remember his goal at Napoli , from a corner.
Don't think we have scored from a corner for many (?) games . Also Otto has not scored either , recently.
Serious Question ? : Do all our corners swing away from goal. E.G. - Zinch. left foot taking a left wing corner.
I would hope our coaching staff would deploy right footed corner takers from the left - and Left footers on the right.
Just a thought............lol
