Britain is the only way a world cup will come here.

This isn't as stupid as it sounds.

If the 4 Home Nations agreed to make a UK national team (the current set up is an anomaly), then I think the FIFA committee might be persuaded. High price to pay though.

I'm happy not to have the WC in England if it means backhanding FIFA delegates to achieve it. I think it is now proven beyond reasonable doubt that, no matter what England proposes, the WC isn't coming here without 'buying' it.

Dead right, NB. The 'lucky' country will have to buy a successful bid.

I support England, I live in England, I was born and raised in England and, although I have many friends who are Irish, Scottish and Welsh I do NOT want a British team.
Sorry but FIFA or rather Splatter wouldn't even consider us if we did have a British team.
And how would the 'Home' nations agree on where the HQ was to be, which ground was the National ground, an equitable distribution of players?

There is too much animosity between the 'Home' nations for this to ever happen.

Agreed, for a variety of reasons a British team is a non-starter.

See This may sound strange but as a fanatic City supporter , this is a blessing in disguise . Because if England would have won the bid to host the world cup , that would have meant a financial assistance to Liverpool , Westham , Spuds for moves to a new stadium . that could also have triggered that expansion of old trafford to 95000 capacity .

Now with no world cup bid , means clubs have to pay out of their own pockets to construct new stadiums . At this point we are the only club who can build a stadium on our own thx to our owners ..

This decision will delay spuds and scousers move to a new stadium , and old traffford expansion is a distant dream now . Agent Glazer will never spend some 100 mil to upgrade that cow shed :P .

So , in 5 years time , we will have the best stadium in England .

i still feel sorry for English supporters .. But I only look at things from City's perspective :)

Being scottish I say definitely no to a british team.

I admit the scotland team is crap, but I support them because they are scottish I would have no interest in watching a british team which is all english players and the odd irishman.

A bid should be made to have the world cup played in britain using stadiums in all countries but each having their own team.

Anyway which anthem would be used?

It will never come here unless we purchase votes .. England or Britain same rules apply. i am not in favour of a British team anyway, but even if it happened we would still have to fork out for the votes and the amount of animosity it would create between the home nations would not be worth it.
