Yeah...and i remember a little sports shop just on the outside of the precinct. I used to buy my Adidas Jogger trainers from there. Ten/Twenty quid I think. Civic was always a bit rough but I liked it. Loved living in Wythenshawe.
We moved there from m Hulme in 1965 when they pulled the old houses down. We thought it was luxury, a garden, three bedrooms and a bathroom and inside toilet. As you say rough but everyone took pride in their houses and there was a good community spirit. My parents still live in the same house, they bought it in the right to buy scheme. Sadly people don't seem to look after their properties the same now.
