Its Guinness time any day of the week.
WOW I certainly was not expecting this from the kids !
A 4 day break (unfortunately I have to take the missus) in March, after telling the kids some time ago, that I would love to go and sample the delights of hops/barley/water in the capital.
Any tips on where to visit would be gratefully received.Been looking on Google but can anyone who has been please make any suggestions.
Cheers and what a lovely surprise for this old farts 65th today.

Brussels is shit, don't go there. Over priced and full of tourists.

Louven, Antwerp etc etc are far better...

Hope this helps!

Oh...

Just do the touristy stuff, pissy boy, Grand Place etc etc and then hit the bars. One other side of the street from the weeing child is quite good. Eat stoofvlees, stew, or have mussels and chips with mayo. Lush.

Congrats Oakie, stayed in Charleroi (Brussels south according to Ryanair) , en route to the Madrid game , stay well clear is my only advice

Brussels is great. Yes it's full of tourists but it's still got a weird, indefinable vibe all of its own. I would certainly try and get to Antwerp and Ghent though if you get chance, both wonderful cities. Get oysters at the market in Antwerp then go to Kulminator, one of the world's great beer bars.

In Brussels, you'll definitely want to have a beer at A La Mort Subite, get phenomenal new wave fish and chips (washed down with a Karmeliet Tripel) at Bia Mara, get down with international students (and 3000 beers) at Delirium Cafe, get yet more beer at La Porte Noire and finish with a beer at Poechenellekelder.

Have a great trip Blue!

Head to Delirium bar, over 1000 beers. They have a small menu but just walk up to the bar and describe the type of beer you like... the bar staff are that knowledgable that they'll recommend beers exactly to your taste. We spent a night in there, beers for all types in there. Bruges is an hour on the train, worth a look a full day walking round. Neuhaus chocolate house in the Galerie de la raine is worth a look too.

Delirium Tremens beer (best in the world) and a trip to Bruges to take in the architecture, canals, great bars, medieval city, great people......

There's a cracking little micro brewery in a converted morgue ,sorry cant remember the name but its near the main square

Wankered in the grand place, and then seafood in one of those tiny streets off the side of it. Go see the pissing boy and there is a good dirty bab shop on the cobbled st going uphill from the square. Avoid the cabs, I've been scared shitless in their taxiscand as others have said get a train somewhere else. The square is one of my fave places on a sunny day but the rest of the city feels a bit soulless to me.
