Sky used to do that prem + season ticket so you could watch 50 extra games a season. used to have it on special offer for £50 just before the season started, that WAS value for money !!!. when that got canned i was fucking furious ! extra 70 a year for shite setanta that i didnt even like. wont even consider getting espn

Thank and praise the lord in heaven, for what fibre optic broadband can bring. As for sky i can not wait till they fall flat on their faces, Do you know they even had the cheek to try any buy the rights to the biggest GAA games here in Ireland, then charge customers on a pay per view service, thank goodness the Irish government and GAA sent them packing. Sky have ruinned what was television for all

I've got broadband and veetle somewhere on my laptop. Did download TV Ants and Sopcast at some point but I'm too stupid to be able to use them.

It's not quite that straightforward. As I said earlier, these streaming sites and services need another 3 or 4 years to mature. As it stands, its often a frustrating process, and the quality is a million miles away from Sky HDs 16mbps.
Sky are all set to take it to the next level with their 3d coverage next season,quite a few of our games have been filmed in 3d already this year to be honest they just havent been shown.
Their channel launches properly in april for united v chelsea and football really is amazing in 3d,the other competitors are way behind in the 3d market.
Sky will still be the market leader when it comes to broadcasting football in this country,ESPN are working hand in hand with them at the moment aswell so dont expect them to suddenly become aggressive and try to buy up the rights for matches any time soon.
All it really means is if offcom make them charge others less then premiership clubs will get less,could affect a few in terms of platinis plans re clubs making a profit tbh

As I get to 90% of matches I've never had Sky and will avoid it as long as possible. ESPN via freeview gives me as much televised footie as I want.

am I the only person not impressed/bothered about 3D football?
I'm happy watching poorer quality streams just aslong as I can see my team and know i ain't being ripped off by Murdoch.

Football will still live on, God forbid the next generation of footballer should have to live on £20k a week, before endorsements. They will never go back to those paltry amounts anyway.
Clubs may have to develop talent again, rather than buying it. Clubs may have to take small gambles and take a chance on players with talent from lower leagues, Man City will probably be at the forefront of such "revolutionary and innovative ideas" like living within our means.
They wont starve, the clubs or the players, 5 year contracts on a million a year, is that so bad?
