was deleting few old bits and pieces from add/remove programs and not sure what I deleted by accident but all of a sudden had no sound

get BSOD when trying to download drivers for Realtek sound card

got a Dell running Win XP

cheers

You would help if you would post the exact model, it would be easy to find those drivers on Dell s website.

If you don t know what Model your Notebook is, then install DriverGenius. It will find the drivers for you. Contact TCID bout the software if you need more information where to buy that software.

Thanks mate can get details this evening when at home

tried Dell and the Realtek websites and both times I tried to download drivers it gave me screen

hmmm strange, that happends when you try to install them?

tho when you post the model name i ll post the direct link for the drivers on here.

Here we go, follow the order

1) Install <a class="postlink" href="http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&DriverId=R47822" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/ ... rId=R47822</a>

2) Install <a class="postlink" href="http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&DriverId=R94481" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/ ... rId=R94481</a>

If that doesn t work, try this one.

1) <a class="postlink" href="http://www.chipdrivers.com/download-get/792/192/7/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.chipdrivers.com/download-get/792/192/7/</a>

that one is asking me for £30 mate

also tried this and it says no issues found

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.driverupdate.net/new_lp/realtek_lp.php?aps=article_content_RealTek#download" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.driverupdate.net/new_lp/real ... k#download</a>

sorry to hear mate, i ll belive you should go to an more tech forum nd open a thread like this one, just name the correct model nd system conf. i think it s a problem with the model nd the wrong drivers, there are two 2400 models nd they ain t supported by the same driver...

or just try to upgrade to win 7, system sound will be fixed automaticly nd i guess there won t be problems with the drivers.

Thanks for you help mate had this oul thing ages might just invest in new one rather than buy Wins 7

I have original XP discs and may just reinstall that but that was last option

Mate, the best way to get the correct driver from Dell is to use the Service Tag from your machine. It should be on one of the labels usually a thin white label underneath your laptop. For example my Dell Latitude service tag is 5LBZR2J - should be a similar format.
