Really? What about the Pep failed at Bayern line, the massive job he has at City, how our players should be honoured to play in that stadium, with such wonderful players etc etc. How Bayern dominated the first half (over and over and over) but not a peep when City dominated the second?

I'm mildly shocked!

I'm not a great fan of Mills, although I prefer him to the bland Michael Owen or the incomprehensible Scholes.
However, he didn't actually say any of those lines in the tone that you're suggesting.

Firstly, he was asked about Pep's time at Bayern, and he replied that their standards are so high that they expect to win the Champions League at the start of every season. At no time did he ever say that Pep was a failure, but if we're making comparisons then Bayern were European Champions under his predecessor Jupp Heynckes
.
He then asserted that the City job would be far more difficult, basically because Bayern have one serious rival, whereas City only finished 4th last season.
Mills was asked about the EDS youngsters, and he answered that our Academy set up was the best in the world. Would you rather he said that it was crap?
As for the game, it was a friendly, and it doesn't really matter.

I don't think you were listening.

He did say Pep was a failure, or at least he said "He was brought in to win the Champions League and when you don't do it....he did the bare minimum by winning the bundesliga, but when he arrived Bayern were champions of Europe and now they're not".

If you cant infer "PEP FAILED" from that, you weren't listening.

He constantly said he wasn't impressed by the academy kids on show.

He also said winning the league once in 3 years would be considered a massive success for Pep at City - which is a view on success no one has had since Mancini.

Now is the time for the fantasy football that the media generally will naturally show bias to their majority subscribers. They are selling boxes, papers, subscriptions etc..
Wait for the MUFC friendlies to see the exaggerated expectations for the new season.
Start of the season brings reality which is a little different but now they must sell their wares especially TV subs so if City do bad it must be good for the majority of potential buyers to pay up for the season.

The newspapers give us views of news not news.
Commentators on TV do the same, we all see the same game but very often our view of the same game differs so apart from crowd reaction why have the sound on?

Mr Mills no longer works for us he works for BT so he is likely to have their view to sell to the gullible or else he finds a different job. Entirely possible he resents his time at City (how many of us give credit to former employers?) so it comes naturally to put the skewed views across.

Watching the match on BT last night was like watching on your own in a pub, with the sound off and having to listen to two local bores chatting all sorts of shit on the next table.
Nailed it.

I can put up with a biased co-commentator (most of them are, unfortunately) but when the match commentator is feeding Mills with prompts it's just ridiculous.

Fair point PB.

I must admit though that it comes to the point where it is better to watch the City games with USA commentators (ie a USA Sports feed) rather than BT or Sky if you want reasonable views.

I watched a German feed last night, i couldn't understand a word, it was bliss.

Actually tha´s not such a bad idea.
Still get the crowd reaction but the commentator opinion is totally irrelevant but the tone of voice may give clues to the message they may impart.
