They wern`t wrong though were they ?
No, the atmosphere has been shite for the European nights. The games have all been pretty forgettable though. Either city being really nervous and underperforming compared to premier league. Or games that have had nothing riding on them.

I think it will take a special night to get everyone excited and up for the competition. Too many people moaning about uefa and booing the anthems at the moment.

We need a great comeback or a great goal against a top team to lift the doom and gloom.

I always remember the Hamburg quarter final as being the best atmosphere at the etihad, The team gave everything and we were right behind them. So European nights can be special.

I agree mate, fans are the first to criticise players and managers when compared to the best examples in Europe, yet cry foul when the same is done to them. It felt like he was saying it would help the team if they made it more hostile for visiting teams... in reality they want to sell the product which the crowd/atmosphere plays a big part of both statements are true though to be fair.
I don`t know what it is about European games that seems to make the atmosphere flat.By and and away the best was the quarter final game against Hamburg which was absolutely amazing and by far and away the best since we left Maine Road.
It may pick up a lot with Pep in charge and the better calibre of players that will be coming back and even starting for us for the first time.Let the good times roll ... for a better atmosphere ... he says with baited breath.

They we're being sickly nice. Making too much effort at times, until they stuck the boot in about the atmosphere.
They didn't stick the boot in though. McManaman said a great atmosphere would help us on European nights. That is true. It's often flat but last season saw an improvement but probably not enough.

That's what I was thinking it will come with success if the players start putting in barnstorming performances in Europe, those will become the games no Blue wants to miss in the end. I was also thinking at the start of the game if Pep asked the fans to stop booing the anthem and stay positive about the competition what the response would be? Pep loves the CL he wont like the booing IMO but it's probably far too soon for him to ask the fans anything like that.

It seems that every City fan you talk has the same opinion of that Hamburg game ... brilliant never to be forgotten atmosphere that night.

If he asks, I'll ignore him, I'll stop booing when they clean up their house, reimburse fans who are out of pocket because of their politics and put some real effort into stamping out racism, rather than producing pretty adverts with star players.

too little , too late , BT plumbed the depths with their unrelenting vitriol towards our club last season , i despise the fact that £18 of my Talk Talk monthly bill , goes to this shower of shite for line rental , c*nts.

True. They could've just ignored the complaints though, which is what other media outlets seemingly do.
I don't think they could; Their audience was so small to start off with the City fans carried a large percentage and they could ill afford to ignore the negativity brought on them by City fans.
It was clearly just a business decision.

Different set of fans now with a different set of expectations.

We have won the league twice, two cups and a CL semi and still atmosphere is poor...what more do some people want?!

Atmosphere will not improve noticeably at all without return of terraces and helping younger working classes to get to the game.

Mrs Qatarman commented on coverage last night and couldn't believe the difference, tried to explain the campaign and why we had dropped BT. Her take is simply they are afraid of Pep (she finds him scary) she now wants BT back so we don't have to go around to her sisters house to watch it (Which would be a blessing!).
