Budget 2024

Finally, something actually happening :)

First take. Not bad and a step in the right direction. Second take. What took them so long to actually take this step?

Next step. Improving our trade agreement with the EU. Labour are going to need growth. I imagine it will take a while for them to grasp this nettle, but they will have to sooner or later so might as well make it sooner.

I think every sick and disabled people are terrified at this moment in time , the tory plan is going ahead and the work capabitlity assessment are scary , if they are going to find 3 billion saving it will be set up to stop the benefits , last lot that did that was ATOS , they had their targets and people died that were found fit to work , several suicides and dying through not having food , changing the goalposts for vulnerable people , i would not have voted for them if there was any indication they would do this

Has the whitepaper even been released yet and if it has have you read it?

Looks to me as a weak attempt at Hail Mary pass, let's try to fix things in a very short term and hope for the best the economy picks up.
Barely touched CGT and ran scared of even thinking of doing something with corporation tax. You can get a serious amount of many from those >1% who have it.

We should all pay our fair share.
It is not that taxing people like him that will rescue NHS and sort out national social security.

No and i wouldnt need to , she said they are applying the tory plan to benefits and say they can save three billion , i have experienced the assessments for many years , including ATOS , they have put a target number on it , they wont be trying to get people like me into work i cant do , but will try and leave me in a state with less support , will make me anxious to fuck again

They are looking at pips as well , sunak plan was to not pay it monthly but a one off payment , i rely on that to live and increasing care needs, private is the only option and i have no savings left , i am scared

You wouldn't need to read what is actually being put in place? And yes assessments aren't nice, with modern technology there has to be ways of helping disabled people have some form of work. My Mrs doesn't want to spend the next 40 years never working again and fibro is her latest condition the classic diagnosis for 'we don't know what is wrong'. With work from home now becoming more common hopefully governments can ask companies to help home bound disabled people into employment. There is obviously a spectrum of conditions and some people will never be able to work.

Mostly investments and US bonds mate.
I only ask as I was listening to some sort of ‘Rich Peoples Alliance’ who are saying that they want to be taxed more as they have a responsibility to the country. These are obviously very rich people who were not talking about buying a new shirt, more of a new mansion or jet plane.

It got my interest as I heard all of the talk about people leaving but these people were the complete opposite and realised that they couldn’t take all their money with them, if you know what I mean.

It’ll be interesting to see how many actually leave the country and my biggest bug-bear is for those who have made the majority of their money, in the UK, moving abroad and not wanting to support the country, after years and years of cuts to the social apparatus, that supported them to make that money.
