has the spouse died or just moved out? Surely he would be expected to support his 5 children?
If he's died she'll qualify for bereavement allowance - theres always the safety net for the genuine cases

Has anybody read the bit where it says the changes to tax credits being restricted to kids born after April 2017? It was mentioned a few posts back. Hood-rats who have already used their fanny like a clown's car will be alright.

I understand and recognise that there are people out there that know the benefit system inside out and have abused it shockingly. Any changes implemented won't affect them because they'll just move on to the next scam or fiddle.
In the tories eagerness to address this though, lots of people who don't work the system and are in genuine need will be the fall guys.
They'll get away with it though as long as people that are thoughtless, nasty, self centred and are in a privileged position give them a high five.
