Budgeting supermarket shopping costs

Trying to save money at the moment and looking to try and budget our supermarket shopping

Going to try and do a weekly or every ten day Home delivery and just shop local for milk, bread and fresh fruit and veg.
Ideally £40 to £50 for the online shop so no delivery charges.

Anyone switched more to homemade delivery and do you think it helps save money?
I'm a bit of an impulse buyer so end up with much more than needed when we go for a whir round supermarket.
How much do you budget a month for your shopping?
Any tips to make the pounds go a little further for food shopping?

no delivery charge? which supermarket offers that little gem?
 
I always shop online now for major items and just go to the local corner shop for fresh produce.

Budget is roughly £100 per week for the online shop.
 
You can get delivery saver with tesco but getting a slot is more difficult , morrisons are the lowest i have found and easy to gets lots , they often dont have what you want but the subs are very close to it

Or you could try aldi and lidl and curb your buying things you dont need
 
100% agree with you that if you do online you’ll not add shit you don’t need to your trolley. Only thing I don’t like is they don’t check the shit they put in your order is long dated like you or I would.

Tips for saving? depends what you like to eat mate. I think you can live well and cheaply if you’re prepared to cook.
 
Why would someone want to have home delivery?
You’ll save a hell of a lot more if you go by yourself, walk around the shop choosing items carefully. Remember make sure to get what you need for the month. Don’t be shy on filling the trolley as it’ll be a while until you return.
On the way to the checkouts, take a detour via the exit doors and save yourself a fortune!

Get to Aldi for essentials, you'll struggle to spend your money in there.
 
Since lockdown started we got into online shopping.
We used to worry about goods being short dated but they never have been.
We have tried Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Morrisons.
Never have any trouble getting a time slot.
We usually now use Morrisons but this week decided to avail ourselves of Sainsbury’s 25% off 6 wine deal.
We get things delivered between 21.00-22.00. Costs between £1-2 for delivery.
Get a list ready before we start and don’t impulse buy like we would in store.
We then top up staples as and when we need them at Aldi.
 
Best advice I was ever given about saving money at the supermarket was make a menu for the week and stick to it. Then make a shopping list from your menu and again just buy those things on your list. Before you start check your freezer and fridge for items you already have. Impulse buying is the killer. If you can use your local butcher or market for green grocery as they tend to be cheaper.

It is also a great idea to try own brands of stuff. You often can’t tell the difference.

I can’t understand why, if you want to save money, you then pay for delivery??

Which do a ‘Compare the supermarket’ slot which you can sign up for for free.

A quid for delivery compared to driving there and back?
It’s a no brainer.
And it gets rid of the awful experience of trudging round a supermarket.
 
get it picked from tesco(any supermarket) and delivered, they will grab the first item to hand, you end up with lots of stuff that wont be edible in 10 days, get off your arse and go and choose the stuff you want then you'll only have yourself to blame.

write set meals out for the week, and stick to it,that way you're not buying stuff you don't need.
