Actually, my brother in law (the United fan who I've referred to on here a few times) was in jail at the same time as the Venables lad. It was Forest Bank, or Hindley. Think it was one of the Youth Offenders Institutes anyway.

The Venables guy was on Protection Wing his whole time there, then moved somewhere with no warning or anything. They even hid his identity in prison, and when he was found out, he had to be moved. Not sure where he went, was a good 10 years ago, or so.

I spoke to my bro-in-law tonight, and just want to say it wasn't Venables he was locked up with, it was Thompson (who was under the name Robert O'Brien at the time).

That's scary. Did you Brother in law ever converse or even see him?

Wasn't there something a few years ago where a foreign paper or papers had some info on Venables & Thompson and were about to publish it. The British governament managed to get an injunction and prevented it from being published. Can't remember the details or how they went about it. Maybe political pressure again so can't see any American paper publishing anything when we're so called good buddies with the Yanks.

Whilst this is true a foreign organisation was stopped from publishing it was not specified where the publication or distribution was to take place; if it was an American magazine publishing or distributing to the UK that would be very different from an American magazine based and distributing purely in America.

The "Fleet Street" journalists know his identity; they are not allowed however to release it nor a recent picture of him (though curiously the Scottish press could, but fear political repercussion for printing it and probably believe it would not be socially responsible). The American press (and any other) could print his identity without fear of anything, such is their power, but why would it interest American audiences, some 17 years after the initial event?

As for the injunction it is effective over the jurisdiction of England and Wales but that does not take into account political agreements the type of which will have happened in Scotland. As for external sources it depends upon whether they have any agreement not to publish and secondly whether their newspaper/magazine etc has any foundation in the UK; distribution by import to a fair sized audience etc. as to whether the UK Government can do anything about it.
These are well documented facts, unless you mean it is the will of the press to be in contempt of court regardless; in which case I would say it is possible that they may release information at the expense of a large fine.

There are a few age progressed pictures of Thompson and Venables about the internet all of which are fairly consistent with eachother but look nothing like Sean Walsh; however age progression images are notoriously hard to get right as even if facial features are correct individual style will determine to a large degree how someone will look.

Many years ago a colleague of mine worked closely with someone who had served over 15 years for murder and was then released. The slightest misdemeanour and they are usually back in.

that's the problem, those bastards venables and thompson, never served a day in prison, they were pampered in 'homes' and juvinile detention centres with playstations and hugs. For what they did to that little boy, they should both be living in a hole in the ground with only weekly beatings to break the monotony.

agree, im 17 and i do remember being 10, i knew exactly how to treat people and what was right and wrong. those fucking bastards should be kept in a whole and made to drink their own piss, eat their own shit and be beaten every day for the rest of their lives.

Spot on mate, it'll fall on deaf ears though, the 'they were only children themselves' sect will go very quiet on this when it all comes out in the open.

Maybe not, but I doubt Walsh is Thompson, merely a man looking for infamy; I say that as I doubt Thompson would compromise the gift of anonymity the courts have given him. I don't think he would last long without it.
