Well that was one fucking turgid affair. Dortmund showed zero ambition to try and win this game. Even after going a goal down to the single moment of class in the whole game.

Yes, that was the main story. Bayern did not have to risk much offensively - they were 4 points ahead - and the only thing they had to lose was the distance to second as they were 4 points ahead prior to the match day. It was Dortmund who had to act. They had some scenes in the first half - but nothing really dangerous - less in the second when Bayern were ahead by 1:0. Too scared that when they open up Bayern would get going.

Dortmund was not bad but did not have any good weapons.

Agreed. While Dortmund played some neat football at times, they never looked like opening Bayern up. Bayern kept them at arms length way too easily. With the attacking options that Dortmund supposedly have, I was most disappointed with their play and ambition overall.

Lübeck and Saarbrücken confirmed as champions in their Regionalligas and promoted directly to 3. Liga. Other Regionnaligas still to be decided.

Has anyone who has bothered to watch this seen anything at all that suggests those of us who want English football to wait until crowds can return may be pleasantly surprised by watching football in empty stadiums on TV?

I’ve tried a few times and didn’t like it at all but was interested in the Dortmund v Bayern match last night because I don’t want Bayern to win the league again.

I have to say that having an interest in the result made a difference. I’m not saying it was good but there were periods where I could ignore the lack of a crowd.

I - and a lot of the Bayern fans I know - think that it bothers you less at your own matches when you are really interested in the match play and what happens on the pitch. You enjoy listening to the voices on the field, too, and how they communicate. At Bayern there is e.g. Müller who is somewhat the second coach on the field constantly commanding the pressing, cheering and advising the others - and David Alaba who tries to advise about structures and distances from the back. Hansi Flick is less communicative during the match - but I think that Pep (and Klopp) will be heared from the pitch side much more often now, too.

The "ghost matches" have some positive aspects, too. Less complaining, less playacting for the crowd - more net match time.

But I might be more the type "the glass is half full" - than "half empty". The situation is like it is - it will not change. So make the best out of it. Our players seem to be motivated and to enjoy playing again, too.

In Germany there is a word called "Bedenkenträger" for people that always talk about the worries and negative causes something can have - leo.org tells me worry-guts as a translation, I do not know if you really use that so often. I am not tired of the different safety instructions but of the people that always only see emphasize only the dangers without really weighing the risks.

Good point for Hertha, but the draw removes any lingering doubts that the German rags won’t win another Bundesliga.

Unfortunately.

Nastasic always looks solid enough on the few occasions I catch him playing. What happened to him at city was it just a case of Pellers preferring Mdm ?
