@ Alex and Scaring
Are you both completely British?. So not half german or so? Thinking about doing a piece about english football fans visiting german games for an Online Football Magazine and had you two on my mind. Not now but in the near future.

Fully British! Always had an interest in Germany though whether that be history or sports! Hoping to find some sort of link to Germany in my family tree though ;) Happy to take part if you'd like!

100% English mate. Pleased for Wales, and admire Northern Ireland, but my Britishness ends at Hadrians Wall.
Ultimately aiming to attend a Bundesliga game at every ground in the top two divisions.
No problem if you want to get in touch.

I'm offended you didn't think of me!

Just kidding ;) - if you need my input at all let me know. No German heritage for me either that I'm aware of, just British/Irish.

My itinerary is sorted for my next fix, although its not as full as the one @Scaring Europe to Death has planned, as it sounds like hes going to Germany for a month. Mine doesn't have too much Bundesliga football involved and its not even completely in Germany either.

Going to Köln v Ingolstadt on Friday 25th
Alemannia Aachen v Erndtebrück and Standard Liege v OH Leuven Saturday 26th
Anderlecht v Sint-Truiden Sunday 27th
Monday in Brussels
Tuesday in Bochums Bermuda Triangle
Wednesday Mönchengladbach v City (might try and do the EDS game too earlier in the day depending on when it is)
Fly home on Thursday

Had on my mind, that one in this thread lived for a long time in germany or had a german mother. Maybe i thought it was you :)

A quick question, as I've checked the trains, and it's probably easier to do Bielefeld rather than Kaiserslautern on Tuesday 22nd.
Does anyone have any local knowledge of Bielefeld (how far is the stadium from the hauptbahnhof etc?)

google maps says it's a 18 min walk for the mile from the Hauptbahnhof to the Schüco-Arena.

for your Bochum v Düsseldorf match there's two "Entlastungszüge" from Düsseldorf Hbf to Bochum

"S 30494
Düsseldorf Hbf - Bochum Hbf"
an ab Ort
15:16 Düsseldorf Hbf Gl. 15
16:14 Bochum Hbf Gl. 2

"S 30496
Düsseldorf Hbf - Bochum Hbf"
an ab Ort
15:35 Düsseldorf Hbf Gl. 15
16:37 Bochum Hbf Gl. 2

______________________________________________________________

"S 30495
Bochum Hbf - Düsseldorf Hbf"
an ab Ort
21:15 Bochum Hbf Gl. 2
21:56 Düsseldorf Hbf Gl. 4

"S 30497
Bochum Hbf - Düsseldorf Hbf"
an ab Ort
21:36 Bochum Hbf Gl. 2
22:26 Düsseldorf Hbf Gl. 5

Match tickets valid for VRR is valid for these trains

All I know is the conspiracy theory that it doesn't actually exist.

I've not been yet, but I've got a mate in Gütersloh which isn't far away so its on my list of grounds to get to. If you've got some time to kill, its not too far from Detmold where Herman the German (below) is.

Cheers Mate

We're actually staying at the IBIS, adjacent to the Bochum hauptbahnhof on the Friday evening.
Is there a time period when you can start using your match ticket as a train ticket because we'll probably be arriving in Bochum around midday.
Similarly, on the Saturday can we use our Cologne-Monchengladbach match tickets, all the way from Bochum to Cologne, or is there some kind of boundary limit?

Yes, I've heard about the in-joke conspiracy theory, which apparently even Angela Merkel has shared.
All I know is that it's close to the Teutoburg Forest where the Germanic tribes once formed an alliance to destroy the Roman Army. I believe old Herman might have had something to do with that.
