Vanilla over two legs ?

City 9 times out of 10 !!

There's something deeply hilarious about Kane moving to Bayern for guaranteed trophies and failing. Even though he will likely get then next year, it will live with him forever.

Only concern is Bayern seem like a mess, Arsenal could wipe the floor with them. Really don't want to have to deal with arsenal semi-final if we get by Real Madrid.

Cup Semi Finals tonight... Saarbrücken at Home against Kaiserslautern.

3rd division Vs. 2nd division and both clubs hate each other with a passion.

Saarbrücken so far eliminated Karlsruhe, Bayern, Frankfurt and Gladbach at home. Amazing really...

But not FCK!! Saarbrucken were the better side until the goalkeeper error.

Happy for Kaiserslautern, they'll take some support to Berlin!

Out of interest, their fans held a banner at the end "Virage bagage - drainage blamage" any idea what it means?

Saarbrücken is considered the "Backpack French" in Germany because their state is super small and located right next to France. Over the course of history they have been part of France, then back to Germany, back to France etc.

So their culture is French influenced as well and the Saarbrücken Ultra's stand is called Virage Est which is French for East stand.

The banner is an attempt at a play with German/french words, but considering the whole Lautern away section most likely shared 10 braincells (that's what constant incest does to you) it's not really witty.

Virage (Ultras Saarbrücken) - Bagage (If you look up it's meaning it literally means luggage in English which would fit the whole Backpack French theme, however it is used as an insult as well. I would translate it as scum, annoying company), drainage (the drain), blamage ( yet another German/French word and it basically means disgrace).

Pretty funny that you asked the meaning of the banner because it had me look up the origins of words like Blamage, Bagage etc. Sometimes you use words on a regular base and never really think about their origin.

I actually thought bagage is a local word from the state of Hessen where I live because my mom constantly uses it when refering to annoying folks like the in laws etc.

Seems it's origins are french and we just butchered it in terms of pronunciation (at least here in the Frankfurt area).

Thanks. Had looked it up as well but couldn't find a translation which made sense, other than the "blamage" embarrassment so I knew it was somewhat mocking Saarbrücken. The support from both teams sounded great.

Went to Hertha v Schalke a couple of weeks ago and it was a great experience, huge home support and electric atmosphere which I understand is perhaps not the norm for Hertha due to their stadium layout and typical attendance figures. Also been in the away end at Dortmund v Hoffenheim and enjoyed the experience as well.

Having said all that, my local club which I support has a longstanding "friendship" with Kaiserslautern due to the two sides meeting in the UEFA cup in the late 90s. Still groups of each others fans go to and from Scotland/Germany to visit games. Been at a couple of Killie games this season when fairly large groups of Kaiserslautern fans have been over for the weekend. So all in all, probably much to your disappointment as a Frankfurt native, Kaiserslautern are the German club who get the support from me. Hoping they avoid relegation and beat Leverkusen/Dusseldorf in the final. I'll visit the Fritz Walter at some point, don't know when but I'll definitely do so.
