Burnley (A) Post Match Thread

Agree with all bar sterling who I thought was a tiny tiny tiny bit better than of late
So did I mate! Set up a lot of good moves first half, just a shame he didn’t get another goal and one or two poor decisions in possession second half which is me being a bit of a nit picker.

I think he’ll be on the right Sunday, Foden left.

In the words of Dave Grohl...

"Done, done, onto the next one"
C'mon City 'This is a call' with a certain game coming up on Sunday 'It's times like these' we need to see 'The best of you' especially as it could be a very '(ever)long' game with the usual luck/decisions we get there!!

We’ve got that aura back.
The shape of the team is right, everyone knows their role and is comfortable with it. The movement, sense of purpose, confidence, swagger - all back somewhere close to the levels of 17/18 and 18/19. And defensively we’re obviously awesome at the moment.
Only thing we’re lacking at the moment is that cutting edge in the final third. But if we keep doing everything else as well as we are, it won’t matter - we’ll still piss the league.

Frustratingly easy win tonight. Frustrating because we were two up and in total control and we went into cruise control instead of going for a big number.

Frustrating also because we were so wasteful in front of goal.

However, three more points and another clean sheet. Let’s keep it going.
I think we are pacing ourselves rather than going all out for big scores.
Personally I like that. It underlines what a strong solid team we have become.
Not going on giddy goal fests but totally controlling games.
It’s the best I’ve seen us in a long time, probably since the takeover in fact.

Would have taken that result before kick off, slight pity that we didn’t add another couple second half but difficult when you aren’t getting stone wall penalties.

Thought Sterling was a bit better tonight but his first touch is a bit rough and some decision making poor, he should have squared to Mahrez at start of second half.

Midfield 3 so good that we are not missing Kev or Dinho which is a massive compliment.

Thought Jesus was very good, his all round play showed signs of him regaining his confidence.

Defence immaculate again.

In summary another performance to demoralise any watching Rags and Dippers.

Fingers crossed pal

I liked the all-round team effort with players working for each other and getting back quickly whenever Burnley attacked. It made for a comfortable win with barely any threat of conceding.

Turf Moor is never an easy game, so to get 3 points, a clean sheet and control the game without any injuries is pretty good in my book. We maybe could have scored more, to me Mahrez was offside but the non-penalty for Jesus just defies belief. VAR and how it is applied is killing this game.

And then we have to listen to Peter Walton ....ha ha. The utter pr*ck tied himself in knots trying to explain himself. You could see the look of complete fear on his face, the cogs clanking in his head, as he realised he was talking complete bollocks and digging a bigger hole.

Anyway, well played. Excellent from Gundogan, Bernardo and Rodri and everyone else to be honest. Don't understand the grief for Sterling. Yes for him he's in a bit of a dip, but he still scares the life out of defenders and his pass for Bernardo's shot on the first goal was excellent, as was the fact he was in position for Gundogan's excellent pass. Franny Lee maybe needs to show him some one-on-one tips in training, nothing that can't be solved. Have patience, he'll come good again. Sterling I mean......not Franny.

Intresting match up on Sunday knowing Liverpool not at full strength yet capable of scoring goals at anytime

Intresting Alison not playing, ill & run down but will play Sunday

Mane also carrying muscle injury but no chance he will miss Sunday as shit or bust

Play to win & no other way.

I think he reverts back to Cancelo at LB & Walker RB

Ederson
Stones Dias
Walker Cancelo
Fernandinio
Bernardo Gundagun
Sterling Phil
Jesus

Steffen
Garcia
Zinchenko
Laporte
Rodri
Torres
Mahrez
Mendy

Well that looked easy. But I thought the whole team worked really really hard for that win. A kinda job done of a performance. Picking man of the match was hard any of the midfield I think could get it. Only two irritants,Sterling was driving me crazy with his poor control and first touch, something mahrez gets right. And Really annoyed that VAR didn’t give what was a totally obvious penalty, ridiculous. What is the point if they don’t pick up obvious errors.
Anyway nice momentum for the trip to Liverpool and hopefully another three points.
By VAR I take it you mean Atwell, let’s name and shame the guilty parties, blaming VAR is like blaming a cooker for burning you lunch

Interesting. Is that the fabled 2-2-1-2-2-1 formation? Pep has surpassed himself.
