Because if we played the best team endlessly, we’d run out of steam and end up dropping more points than we would from rotation. We have to take these risks to achieve unprecedented success. Make no mistake, Pep thinks we can win the lot this year, you can see it in his face. So he’s going for it. We need the entire squad to achieve that, and Feb is key.

But also, and just as importantly, Pep doesn't sack off cup competitions that he respects just because he's going for the league. He wants it all. Rightly so.

My concern is that despite the results we are slowly regressing to that slow slow build up from the back. 20 meaningless passes whilst the opponent builds a defensive wall . Sometimes 20 minutes of no engagement goes by. It’s ok if a bit dull at times but it’s a risky strategy.

Any chance Cancelo, Stones or Gundo get a full rest tonight? I ask because if they do, Jan fucking Bednarek comes into my fantasy team with his stinking -7.

I was talking about Ilkay Gundogan by the way, but was drawing parallels with the fact that a lot of the same muppets who slag off Riyadh Mahrez were slagging off Ilkay not so long ago
They were slagging off Gundogan because he’d been utter wank for 3 years.

He’s had a brilliant 3 months and is rightly getting plaudits for it.

Mahrez has been wank for the best part of 18 months. If he bucks his ideas up, he’ll get the plaudits too, if he deserves them.

Maybe it’s because it’s a run of games against teams with the defensive wall already built, so it isn’t us allowing them to build it. Against west brom it was a shit wall. The Sheffield wall was a good wall, Burnley we’ll see. Our approach has neither changed or regressed.

I think you should take that Sheffield United game in isolation. They are a dog of a team to play against for anybody. Their flat back 5 makes it massively difficult to employ any width with any effectiveness. Plus, we managed to rest a few and took out one of ourmost creative players in Cancelo.

Prior to that, our attack has been just fine.
