Burnley fans applauding Tevez

City fans also clapped Zola when he was substituted during the game against Chelsea in the final season at Maine Road after he had put on a masterclass performance.

I do harbour doubts if the Eastlands crowd would be quite so gracious though?

Seem to recall he got applauded at Stamford Bridge too, when we lost 4-0 there.

Also remember Paul Merson getting applauded at Wallsall; don't think that would be repeated the amount of stick he gives us nowadays.

That first half Arsenal performance at Maine Road (Carlo Nash's first game) was the finest half of football from the way team I've ever seen; they were rightly applauded off.

I seem to remember at Anfield ( foggy memory as I was exceedingly drunk!!) City being stuffed 4-0 or suchlike and the Blues support singing we're shit, but we know we are and the Kop applauding us! then again I may have imagined it, drink does strange things.

It would be interesting to see the reaction of City fans nowadays if we went 4.0 down at home to Arsenal but that night when they beat us at Maine Rd the reaction was brilliant. I doubt we would be able to take it so well anymore, but that comes with the added expectation I suppose! Maybe in Europe if a team like Barca were to outplay us the way they outplayed Arsenal in the first 25 mins the other night I bet they'd get a decent response.

Also remember the standing ovation we gave Merson at Maine Rd when they beat us there (think it was 3.1 if I remember right). The only other single player I'd have applauded off would have been Berbatov after the Carling Cup quarter final under Sven. He was good back then!

also it looked like at the time with that big win they'd beat united to the league but they fucked up

Some of the pie heads applauded Tevez off after he got his hat-trick against them at our pace the other day too.

anyone notice the whole of the Bob Lord stand applauding Tevez when he came off , absolute top drawer support considering the events on the pitch for them .

This ^^^

Really top draw support (bar a few walk-outs) even 5-0 down they kept cheering their team on... Our support would be booing and having a go at the players in that situation.

We should learn from their spirited support and incredible dignity if we want to truly be the best fans in the land (and all the world)

arsenal at maine road, 4-0, got battered, non-stop singing

boro away, 8-1, non-stop singing at 7-0 and our conditional support continued for Sven.
