Burnley (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

We were pretty much in total control. I thought Gonzalez was good today and Reijnders will be too when he gets used to the pace and power of the PL.

I have to disagree about Gonzalez. He seems to seriously struggle to keep the ball and gets into too many 50/50 challenges just because his control is lacking. Reijnders is frustrating but he has the benefit of being new. They still allowed 9 shots from Burnley.

Plenty of people on this forum were giving Doku the big "fuck off" before the season started. What have you got to say now for yourselves ? A fucking big piece of humble pie ?
Those idiots will never admit they were wrong, in the same why they don't understand why Pep's a world class football coach and they're not.

Some "fans" were gloating at half time. Take that, wums.

Everything to play for. Win the next 5 games and we'll be top or very close.

You grow up. He has NOT been shit, he's the only player we've had who has been putting the ball in the box but some of you idiots expect him to beat 2-3-4 defenders 10 times every match and score as well. Not his fault he does the hard bit then has nobody to cross the ball to.

We have the greatest coach in the world possibly ever, and if Doku had been shit he'd have been out. There's a reason Pep's the coach and you're not.
There's a reason we dropped off so much too.
And he has been shit.

The match day thread was its usual disgraceful self. Filled with posts from utter bellends who have never forgiven this club for being taken over and ruining their self-deluded street cred that “we support a team that wins nothing. Aren’t we cool?”

Twitter is far far worse. One prolific poster who seemingly only uses City to sell tee-shirts “for good causes” and never has a good word to say about the team and a veritable plethora of other wankers.

I get double the high when we win. The natural high of winning a game o football and the extra high of knowing the team has just ruined a good few thousand “City fans” weekend’s.

I honestly believe we should ban the match day thread. It’s just that bad.

One poster on the thread today said we were a husk of our former selves, another said we wouldn't finish in the top half...

All just before we scored 4 goals in the second half.

We'll have to agree to disagree about Gonzalez then. Always shows for the ball, keeps it well and is quite progressive with his passing at times. We won't get a better Rodri back-up.

Aside from the hiccup against Brighton (not counting our annual loss vs Spurs), I feel we can get really excited with how we are playing this season - lots of promising signs.

The right flank our weakest area at the moment but on current showing we shouldnt be afraid of any team

Poor first half but much better in the second. The Bobb substitution worked well.

Doku has really taken a step forward this season. I hope someone can nail down that right wing spot, whether it be Savinho, Bobb, or Cherki when he's back.
Great first half, just didn't get the second goal we deserved and with their fluky deflected equaliser, the H-T scoreline flattered them. Doku probably just got pissed off crossing the ball after beating 3 defenders time and again then finding there was nobody in the middle waiting for it so he's decided to start having a go himself. Those of you who have woken up are now realising what we saw 2 years ago.

We need to fix the midfield and the team will perform. The control is gone and it hurts us because it means we can’t attack effectively or defend. Concern is Gonzalez is just not working. The hope is Reijnders adjusting otherwise we have the same problem as the last 3 years without Rodri.

Doku is finally showing his level.
Gonzalez had a very competent game mate. No idea what you’re seeing.

Feel better?

He's been shit since he joined 2yrs ago - now he's finally playing well after changing and learning. It's fckall to do with "hating". Grow up.
It's been obvious to anyone with half a football brain that he's a quality footballer. Like many players it's taken time for him to get up to speed in a City shirt - some of us have learnt not to judge to early. Remember "Plodri" and "FFS" - I could go on.
