Burnley (H) | Post-Match Thread

Happy with the three points, hate the first game back after the international break, we usually aren't anywhere near our best straight after it.

Professional win, take it and move on. Bernardo and Rodri MOTM for me, can't split them.

Special mention to Sterling for his second half, looked more like himself on the left rather then through the middle. Fair play to him.

With the return of Grealish, Jesus, and Gundogen is there really any room for Palmer to get more playing time? With the performance put in today by Sterling and Mahrez, I feel Palmer is more than in line to at least get a fair shake ahead of these two, but I don't see where he will get time over one of the others.

was the sort of game that you have to dig deep and just get the points and don't pick to much out of it
the whole team worked hard and maybe we just dropped our levels to suit burnley style of play

burnley are a sort of team that make it so hard in the first 60minutes and if you don't take your chances to kill the game then you are on edge knowing a mistake can punish you and they are back in the game.
so good results and clean sheet and back in europe midweek

Not a great watch. Win is a win though. Plus the Rags lost, so it's a good weekend.

Tbh I think the reasoning behind the full 90 mins was to emphasize that Pep gave them both a full match to prove themselves and this is what they displayed. Wishing Palmer was put on earlier for one of them, but the 90 minute quota proves the point

Pep's got 2 players who are massively out of form, and 1, KDB, who's not awful but a shadow of his best. They're only going to get back in form on the pitch.

It's not mind games, it's not complicated, it's the exact same approach he took to Bernardo Silva, Stones, Walker, Gundogan and anyone else who's lost form.

He's been doing this for 6 years now.

Potentially awkward game comfortably dealt with. Frustrating for a bit but mostly just a solid performance. Burnley never got a sniff - not that they were interested in doing anything more than parking the bus and complaining. A truly irritating football team that we, thankfully, demolish every time they turn up.

Dyche can prattle on like, "When you come here, to this corrupt stadium, you don't expect much, bla bla bla I like to eat worms", etc. But half his lads were just chucking themselves over at the slightest touch and expecting to be given free-kicks from shouting loudly enough?

Steffen good, Cancelo okay, Stones good, Laporte good, Ake okay, Rodri great, Bernardo great, De Bruyne flat, Sterling flat, Mahrez unlucky, Foden okay. Just an average day out. The first games after international breaks are always shite and potentially a banana skin, so I'll take the three points and move on.

3 points is all that matters in the end.

The squad needs to keep evolving and a few players have served us well but time to shuffle the pack. Mahrez & Sterling need replaced. Fantastic servants and their contribution will always be remembered. Most of our attacks relies on the wings. It’s the weak area when we need to rely on M&S.

Wastefulness in front of goal continues.

Bernie outstanding.

Rodri & Zac the other standouts.

Overall content.
