Such an impressive character,i could listen to his interviews constantly.
The winning mentality and accepting nothing less than 100 percent oozes out of him,its no wonder he has players running through brick walls for him and the club.
The thought of him bringing his ideas and personality here really excites.
One of the most telling aspects of his last season for us, wasn’t just the Leicester goal (brilliant though it was), it was the snippet of info that ever since Pep took over, on match days the only squad members allowed in the changing rooms pre/during the match were the starting 11 and the substitutes.
There was only one exception, ever. that exception was Kompany, because he was an inspirational motivator and leader , even when injured.
Allowed access to the changing room, at all times, despite not playing, was a unique accolade paid to Kompany, and it was clearly done for a noted and very positive reason.
As presumably alluded to in the ‘enforcer’ thread, since Kompany left, we have missed that towering fighting (and supportive) presence, not only on the pitch, but especially in the changing room.
Kompany appears to be one of the few complete all round high-level footballers who segued into management with ease.
His high level of intelligence, his articulation (he was a far better pundit than the vast majority churning out drivel week in, week out), his sense of purpose (did the coaching exams, and an MBA IIRC, early/whilst still playing), and his dedication to the tasks given to him.
I know nowt about the coaching team around him, but hope he’s got the awesome Pep style group of talent.
