Wow, they are great to watch. Also so impressive to do that at a level that is not absolute elite which in a way proves the effectiveness of Pep’s football philosophy even more than having Arsenal and City first and second in the Premier League. It shows that it is a choice managers make. It also undermines those loonies who deny Pep is the greatest manager because he has never worked outside elite clubs… for example at somewhere like Burnley! If Kompany can implement this style there so early in his career it then surely the master could do similar. I would have Kompany here after Pep based on this seasons achievement to date.

I really enjoy watching Burnley at the moment. They’ve got the style of play but they also have a grit and determination, ironically a bit of something that Pep (and us) have said we’re missing this season.

Admittedly Kompany has done an interview saying it was the years of Dyche which has made it easier to keep that grit, but it really does compliment a winning team and makes it much more difficult to get anything from games against them.

He’s doing a fine job, it’s going to be exciting to see how his career continue to develop. Really hoping he puts himself in serious contention for the job here.

If spurs sack Conti or he doesn’t sign a new contract! There board will look at Arsenal how they gave time to Arteta the football he plays after spending few year with the god of management and Kompany will be on that least of managers they’ll be looking at! If Burnley go up and then Conti goes Levy offers Kompany the spurs job would he take it?

Such an impressive character,i could listen to his interviews constantly.

The winning mentality and accepting nothing less than 100 percent oozes out of him,its no wonder he has players running through brick walls for him and the club.

The thought of him bringing his ideas and personality here really excites.
One of the most telling aspects of his last season for us, wasn’t just the Leicester goal (brilliant though it was), it was the snippet of info that ever since Pep took over, on match days the only squad members allowed in the changing rooms pre/during the match were the starting 11 and the substitutes.
There was only one exception, ever. that exception was Kompany, because he was an inspirational motivator and leader , even when injured.
Allowed access to the changing room, at all times, despite not playing, was a unique accolade paid to Kompany, and it was clearly done for a noted and very positive reason.

As presumably alluded to in the ‘enforcer’ thread, since Kompany left, we have missed that towering fighting (and supportive) presence, not only on the pitch, but especially in the changing room.

Kompany appears to be one of the few complete all round high-level footballers who segued into management with ease.
His high level of intelligence, his articulation (he was a far better pundit than the vast majority churning out drivel week in, week out), his sense of purpose (did the coaching exams, and an MBA IIRC, early/whilst still playing), and his dedication to the tasks given to him.

I know nowt about the coaching team around him, but hope he’s got the awesome Pep style group of talent.
