Bury fans club AFC start a new life in NWCL

Where were the Bury boys Gary and Phil ? In their towns hour of need?
What about billionaire Bury-born John Whittaker. A guy born into a family that built its wealth on the back of the blood, sweat and toil of working class folk from the town and surrounding areas.

Great shame.

So difficult now with the focus on the premier league and the money

Gtr Manchester is dominated by city and the other lot it must be really hard to maintain a fan base.

We have Oldham, Rochdale , bury, Stockport, Salford city, altrincham and Bolton all trying to retain fans , bread new fans and interest when within 10 miles you have two big clubs.

In our dark, dark days when the Club were in a perilous state financially - though never quite in the depths Bury (and Bolton) have found themselves in - my mates and I would discuss (hypothetically) what we would do if City went under and which other club, if any, we could support. We agreed that we could never see ourselves supporting any other club and that the whole terrifying prospect was something that did not bear thinking about. Bury will be ‘resurrected’ in some form and will no doubt play in some ‘minor’ league but this is a sad, sad day for the town and the fans who didn’t deserve the bent bastard who took over their club.
I have no doubt that the bastard who took over Bury is bent but surely some blame has to be attached to previous owners and lenders too.

How does a club with 3k attendances run up debts of a reported £7-9 million?

This is a dark day for football.
I wonder if those clubs that drove the move to keep all home gate receipts and the formation of the premier league are pleased with the outcome.
The premier league hoovers up the lions’ share of the money.
The gap between the haves and have nots grows ever wider.
This could have been us 11 years ago but we got lucky.
Look what had to be invested over those early seasons in order to close the gap.
Now with FFP no other team can realistically do what we did.
It is all driven by greed by a small number of clubs and not the good of the game.
UEFA recently brought in a "new owners" rule, because the ppl who bought the Milan clubs complained that it was impossible to invest. The rule basically says you can invest what you like, provided UEFA accept that you have a business plan which will bring you into profit in x? years. It worked for Inter but AC went tits up and is now owned by a US private equity fund.

The irony being that the season before it all went tits up, Leeds made a small profit and would have flown through FFP.

It was never about stopping your Leeds and your Portsmouth's.
And along came that nice Mr. Bates to help them out.......

In his interview with 5 Live, Dale stated he wasn't a football person, had never been to Bury and never had any intention of doing so.

Just another day in business eh?

Shocking.
I'm sure he passed the 'Fit and Proper' high bar the EFL set though.
