BURY FC £10 For other ST holders Fri

To be fair, League One football isn't bad at £18 when Conference Premier teams charge the same, and in some cases more. The lower leagues are losing a slow battle with the financial side of the game, charge too much to bring in revenue and you don't get enough through the gates, charge less and if the team are playing bad you don't get enough through the gates and you lose more money.
It's a hard balance for some of the clubs to find whilst not setting the world alight on the pitch.

£18 is still more expensive than a ticket to watch a German Bundeslegia game (that also incudes the local train / bus / tram fare too!)

Someone said Oldham / Bury / Rochdale fans are being lost to City / rags... I don't buy that one bit.
Look at the Oldham fans who couldn't wait to see the Latics v Liverpool / Everton in the cup.... nowhere to be seen the following league game...... they are not watching City or the rags instead.

The time has come for a proper shake up of lower league football.

I'd put the Conf and Div 1 and 2 together and make them regional. Instant saving on travel (Exeter to Torquay etc rather than to Hartlepool). It'd also mean more fans going to aways so crowds would go up. Seems a no brainer.

The other option would be to merge clubs but that would be shit.

Yes they are. Those extra who turned up more than likely were locals who supported other teams. Which is why after the big game they disappeared back to their armchairs or their respective teams.
I happen to know at least 3 City SC holders who were at both games. As well as a couple of rags who went.
And it's the kids these days. The PL has all the hype which pulls them in. So lower league football is less attractive to youngsters and they pic a top team as opposed to a local lower team.
The price is sadly how much these teams have to charge to get by. The Bundesliga attracts top sponsorship. These teams main sponsors are around 50-100 thousand a year.
In an ideal world it would be a tenner and 5 for kids but football over here won't survive on that.
