Buskers Not Beggars:

Not exactly buskers, more two lads waiting for the train - but this video always cheers me up.

2 strangers having a jam on a Paris train station piano

One of the features during Covid over here in Dublin’s Northside has been the Sunday sessions that started with a few friends and grew into a mixture of sometimes up to 10 musicians, with a group of mainly women who do dance routines in front of them.
They come from miles around, several counties, as all their classes had shut down.

My mate Judith asked could she sit in and has been playing with them all summer on bongos and singing.

I walk the dog down. The wife brings her mother down and sit and listen.

There’s a natural cover under a ring of trees where they play still and they call it The Tree Arena. (Brilliant)

You can’t really see Judith here but you get a feel for the fun. It has attracted a bigger and bigger crowd and had to stop it for a while because of the social distancing.

Weird I’ve never heard of her and someone at work shared this today. She is pretty amazing to be fair and listened to a few of her songs today.

I think the guy playing with her was spotted online by someone in London and offered a lead in a Christmas pantomime, however that works with Covid.

We played that at my dads funeral the original but wow they both did carried it well ,
Great thread this

I still don’t understand what the colon in the thread title is for. I’ve been on tenterhooks for months.

I still don’t understand what the colon in the thread title is for. I’ve been on tenterhooks for months.

The : is used to separate two independent clauses when the second explains or illustrates the first. In such usage, the : functions in much the same way as the semicolon. As with the semicolon it's best not to capitalize the first word after the : unless the word is ordinarily capitalized. I also imagine in my minds eye that a colon used in place of a semicolon or a full stop can add character to a title by advertising content, showing the author has given prescience or foresight into the subject matter to hand. If I had not applied it then I doubt very much the thread would have had the legs to travel past page two : /
