I think overall we've spent more in the past 10 years. But a decade ago, we weren't even in the Champions League so to go from that to conquering English football and producing the greatest English side of all time is no mean feat, especially in an era where most of the other top clubs (maybe Spurs aside) have spent vast sums of money too. It's an incredible achievement and if anyone thinks money guarantees success, you only have to look across the border to look at the crazy money United have spent to know that's not true.

Those figures are all over. Lukaku to low KDB To high

If anyone ever talks about transfers - just mention Rooney £33 million in 2004....15 years ago

Or...Rio Ferdinand for £41million in 2002....£40 mill on one player - this is the season we spent a TOTAL of £40mill on players. (Anelka, Fowler, Vuoso, Distin, Sommeil)

No doubt they will say "yeah but we were spending money we earned".....you simply counter that with did the Glazers buy your club with money they "earned"?!?!?!

Dinho was 30m,he paid the rest himself, your figures for kev and raz aren't right either so i'm not sure the rest is right
The facts don't matter when the narrative is set and the journo's are happy to just keep repeating it parrot fashion anyway

They just don't like the fact that their time is well and truly gone and you lot are the new (better and more liekable) kids on the block, the media don't like it either. Well eff em, keep rubbing their plastic noses in it
What are your owners like? do they have plans to do a lot of business this summer on the back of your excellent season?

Oh I only copied from another forum
But the reasoning is spot on
I agree we have been unfairly labelled,i think they are thinking way back to 2008-10 ish and ignoring the figures since then,we are big bad city like it or not, they also ignore how little we paid for vinny, zabba etc as it doesn't suit them

See my post on the Wolves thread Karen. They have stated that they aim to compete with the top clubs for top players this summer. They are the real deal and not prepared to stand still. This season was good but in their words, they didn't buy Wolves to finish 7th. This is just the start and they are already making big inroads into China (all our games are screened live there), Mexico as we signed Mexican national hero Raul Jimenez and of course, Portugal!

They are also investing heavily in the infrastructure of the club with big improvements to the training ground, laying replica pitches to the Molineux playing surfaces and plans to rebuild Molineux as a 50K seater. We have a waiting list of 5K for season tickets alone!

What's the latest with you guys and Joao Felix, heard you could get him for a ridiculously low fee?

That's briliant,i'm pleased for you,if it can happen to us it can happen to you, best of luck with it

Looks like many of them could be in euros with the wrong currency in front.
That, or people have done what many do, and copy them from transfermarkt, without noting that the £ price changes on the site as it''s base is the euro (so as the £ goes down, the £ value goes up).

There have been rumours about JF for a while, it seems a bit bizarre to be honest especially as we cannot offer Champions League football but Jorge Mendes is the key and he moves in mysterious ways. The fact we signed Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota when we were in the Championship then Portuguese legends Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho makes us believe anything is possible with Fosun and Mendes.

Thanks Karen that's kind, we are still pinching ourselves at this point. I guess other clubs might say that we finished 7th and lost to Watford in a semi, so what but we can see the bigger picture. We play the best football we have ever seen, have a fantastic manager and super ambitous owners who want the world and are prepared to get it. But then we also lost twice to HUDDERSFIELD!!
