BWSL 2022/23 Brighton H A vs City 12/03

Need Hasagawa further up the pitch where she can influence things.

We had like five or six shots on target in the second half but one was deflected and the others were all within the reach of the keeper until the goal came. We have attacking opportunities but we haven’t quite broken the defense to the extent that we’re less predictable and the shooter gets time/space to take well aimed shots.

The assist for Shaw’s first goal shows the kind of play Hasegawa likes to make.

She dribbles to her left drawing the defenders’ attention to that side while looking for Shaw to get free on the right side. She hides the intent and tries to catch them off guard which I think could contribute to our chances for goals.

If Hasegawa is needed by the team to play CM she will but if someone else can better fulfill the role — Aleixandri or Morgan my candidates — then she will gladly go upfield more.

And don’t worry even if so she’ll drop back plenty to get involved in buildup, she can cover a lot of ground.

IMO we should have tried such a setup a bit earlier when we had the chance against lesser teams. Now we only have one game to try anything before the critical games against Chelsea and Arsenal, and Villa are pretty good too.

I looked in intermittently on the MDC and the longer it went on the more I thought 'Brighton, two shots two goals!" but there's nothing like a last minute goal to nab three points. And there was no smash and grab about it. We were the team who set out to win and with ambition to create the opportunities so to do! What an acquisition Bunny Shaw has been.

Oh, and a thumbs up to CFC women, well done!

Great win for the Blues, and Chelsea beating the Ragettes will help too. Top finish by Sam Kerr for Chelsea, surprised "only", 3,277 turned up at Kingsmeadow (2/3rd full) for such a key game.

Anyone know how are WSL crowds looking apart from the odd ones at "men's" grounds ?

They're improving. Last season the crowd was generally confined to east stand but some fixtures this year have made use of the terraces behind the goals and the West Stand has been called into action.

WSL attendances are growing
