BWSL 2022/23 City v Liverpool 29/30 October Match Thread:

Can't really blame Taylor for picking the same team that's won their last two league games quite well. Do think that Raso deserves a starting spot after recent appearances off the bench and her Conti cup game in midweek. Think Kelly has bee coasting through games too much and may need a game or two on the bench. Also not sure that Castellanos us offering that much either and maybe also time for a switch there too.

Observations -

With a decent manager we have a good enough, youthful squad to build something good.
Maybe time to give Sandy a run in goal.
Raso adds energy and should play more ahead of Kelly - something I think she will not like but it's team first.
Hasagawa (who is a real surprise), Casperji, Deyna (slowly getting better and better) and Aleix are very good players.
We always beat teams by playing at a high tempo and I cant understand why the manager does not apply this.
Common theme on our England players is that they have regressed whereas other teams have got their internationals flying.
Good, important win that should have been easier and nice to see a larger crowd - I'll be back there next time!

Overall Taylor is not using our assets to full capacity and either he has to be tougher on not playing certain players out of form or he should just ship out.

A midfield of Hasegawa, Losada or Angeldhal, with Raso & Hemp wide & Deyna in the hole is good enough to compete with Chelsea & Arsenal.

I thought this was on the cards after her performance v Blackburn and it didn't take long after she came on to confirm it. She's as quick as Lauren, I think, and is a very dynamic player.

It looked after the cock-up at the back that all our hard work in the first thirty was gonna pee-ed up the East Stand wall. Anyone can make a mistake on a footy pitch but for the Dipper goal it was a crass mistake. We'd got away with much the same mess a few minutes earlier and clearly hadn't learned anything from it. Liverpool were limited in what they could do and it proved to be the case that we would gift 'em any semblance of a point. Too many times we made the wrong decision, and made little of some good chances. Thank my boomerang that Hayley got on with enough time to do summat!

Our goalie is the opponent’s best player every week and the in the game thinking passing from the majority of our players is appalling! Taylor needs to coach them better if we going to win nothing
The lasses occupying the back line have time to pass to a City player but they faff about on the ball - caught on it today and disaster - and when they do decide to pass the player they were passing to has a Dipper up her back, and the ball invariably goes back to the person who passed it. There was yet another instance of having a throwing midway in the Dipper half, the ball gets thrown back to just inside our half and then back to Ellie, and I'm thinking that here comes another cock up at the back.

Dipper's women copy of the men's, big hoof, plenty of fouling.
There was a post I read yesterday where someone was quoting a media apparatchik bewailing the fact that the Liverpool midfield used to bully the opposition. The last few season their midfield has been bypassed with a hoof to Mane and Salah to chase. That was much the game plan today. I thought the Dippers set up as Klippity would have liked.

1-1, messing about at the back!
Worse than messing about - just faffin' and thinking that they have magic in their boots. It's a regular occurrence against teams with high athletic ability and a constant press. We are suckers for gifting teams a goal or two. Today, thankfully, it was just the one.

Chloe Kelly….disaster so far. Needs hooked. Hemp only marginally better.
I thought Lauren was a lot better. We had Chloe on the City fans' side in the second half and nothing was coming off - catching practice for the goalie with much of the crossing, and since the injury I think she has been very wary of mixing it. There were a couple of runs where I thought she gave it up as a lost cause.
