Raising the minimum / living wage costs a Government nothing (in fact it saves them money as it reduces any welfare / means tested benefits ) So why dont they do it more often ?

By elections in general have lower turnouts
However this voting on a Thursday nonsense is such an historic anachronism it’s akin to keeping a bail of hay in the car for your non existent horse!
Elections should be held at weekends so more people have time to get out and vote

Yep this Thursday bollox has to stop.
Make it a full weekend of voting, Saturday and Sunday to maximise the possible turnout.
Crushing defeats for the Tories as expected. Cant wait to hear the spin they try and put in it, should be a real hoot.

Greg Hands trying to claim that Labour only got 800 more votes in Tamworth (I think) and it's all about Conservative voters not showing up.

I hope for a Tory meltdown come next election and they can go away and reform into a centre right party, our democracy needs that
However what will happen first is they will swing to the far right get thrashed in the election after and then reform, it’s a well trodden path, although they will struggle until they get rid of the UKIP wing who have joined en mass

Just bollocks IMO. Myself, the Mrs and a few mates who I've asked who are all traditionally Conservative voters have all voted Labour this time. All of us are pretty centrist in our views and think the current lot have gone too far to the right.
Also, the Tory candidate was a local councilor who has been utter shit at his job and is a right arrogant twat.
The fact that Labour can now appeal to voters like us probably pisses off those a bit more on the left though :)
