Bye bye sky

You can get Netflix for a fiver a month and Now TV is also a fiver a month which covers near enough every base with Freeview except for the sports.

Done the same this week, binned Sky. Offered me a £5 per month discount to stay, then the guy in cancellations offered £30 per month off. Had two increases off them between last may and this April, which prompted me to to rethink the whole thing. Funny, if they hadn't tried to get an extra £4 per month off me in this years increase I'd probably have carried on, quite lazily.
I would think this month for sky users is the best month to mention to sky you may leave .I'm sure they will give you a very reduced deal to stay for next season.worth a phone call I think

Now you've cancelled your Sky subscription you'll get nasty letters threatening you with a fine and a criminal record if you ever watch your TV again.

No, sorry, that's the BBC, not Sky.

Sky send out polite letters asking you to come back and offering discounts.

I too a while ago got rid of Sky and life is a lot cheaper these days.

However I do not find the world of streams and the internet as rosy as I thought it would be, it is very frustrating at times, and I consider myself fairly tech-savvy.

I have an Android phone and tablet. On both I have Mobdro, on my tablet I have an app called AV Stream which is basically XBMC but a simplified version with add-ons already installed.

Mobdro is very unreliable these days with a lot of sports channels appearing offline when a live game is on. AV Stream is very user-friendly but the streams unreliable, and often crashing meaning I have to spend time flicking through streams to find a working and clear video.

What are other people using on the Android format to watch sports? Are there any other, and more reliable apps or websites out there that I can use?

Downgraded to Basic sky package years ago (to keep the kids happy), and bought a Android box for sports & movies. Save £40 + a month since doing it.

Just got myself an M8 box (after chinwagging it through with several tech-savvy posters by PM - thanks guys!), set it up and everything is hunky fucking dory.

Sky can fuck right off.

£50 a month saved right there.

This is what I do. I don't mind paying for Now TV and Netflix. I only really watched City on Sky so any match I don't go to I don't mind paying the £7. Can't be mithered with unreliable streams or channels that may or may not be there. Cancelled Sky last month and made it clear I wasn't bothered about any offers to stay.

I just googled the m8 and found some videos, looks great BUT apparently there are lots of pirated versions which are far inferior, please can you tell me where best to buy it?
