Great shout

I'm 43, a mate at work (who's aged 47) recommended The Strypes to me after we were having a similar discussion regarding wanting new bands to listen to.

Your mate's a young 'un then carl... I'm 57 Wednesday and it is nice to know I'm not the only old 'un still appreciating some of the new(er)bands.

Pinder10. If you do catch them at Glastonbury and you have a liking for the old retro-modernist stuff you will grow to like them. Enjoy. Hopefully the weather will be excellent... and the toilets "refreshing" ;)

Happy Birthday for tomorrow mate!!

The Strypes do seem to have a certain energy about them and as I stated in a previous post, you can detect The Jam / The Beatles influences in their music.

I remember after listening to them on youtube, the first evening after they were recommended to me - it was the first time I actually felt excited by a band for a long time.

In fact, it was the first time in ages I "felt" something by a band.

Dead young, its up to them how far they take this

Try out Tame Impala, Lonerism and a great album from my favourite band Beach House which is called Teen Dream.

I'll second that mention of Tame Impala, they are a talented group of Aussies

I'm really digging Kodaline which were featured on the Sky montage for the season. They are depressing and brilliant at the same time.

For Floyd like guitar sounds try
Almunia - New Moon (track - Electro Blues should be right up your street). Their new album is too soft - New Moon is the one. Serve well chilled.

For a cool seventies vibe - Kurt Vile has an album with a west coast vibe. You won't be wasting your money by trying Air Bud for starters.

'the weeks' who were supporting band for kings of leon tonight were awesome.

If you like your Pink Floyd try this guy out Ryan Kickland.

He's my most listen to artist at the moment. In fact I'd welcme some opinions on him
