Its Guinness time any day of the week.
Over the past couple of weeks my computer screen will just go completely blank and then reappear some 10 seconds later with this message ;
"Display Driver Stopped Responding and has recovered"
Can anyone help please, but I don`t do technical jargon I`m afraid,so good old plain English would be just fine please.
Cheers,
Oakie.

The graphic/video card could be on the way out probably why its taking long for the screen to come on?

The actual speed is fine W, its just that it cuts out and leaves me with a blank screen for approx.10 seconds and then it reappears with the wording and the full screen back on.Really is pissing me off. Thanks for taking the time mate.

Click on the Fix it icon in this article Oakie

<a class="postlink" href="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2665946" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2665946</a>

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html</a> download and install this, (very safe)

run it, it should give you a log of what devices you have (among other things).

in the display section it will tell you what graphics card you have.

either search for the driver yourself or copy and paste the make and model here and i will have a look for you.

The driver download will usually come in the form of exe which means you double click and it will install/update itself.

could be your card is on its way out though.

had you done any upgrades to windows (guessing that's your O.S) before it starting playing the rubber pig?

this happened to me a couple of months ago
sounds like a corrupt graphics driver like mine was
unfortunately every attempt to uninstall and reinstall the said driver
failed to cure the problem.
I ended up doing a system restore to a week earlier and this sorted it out
so....
if your windows 7
click start
where it says "search programs and files" type "system restore"
it will appear in list
click it once and wait for it to start
put a tick in the box that says "show more restore points"
follow instructions and choose a date before it all started
click finish and cross your fingers
hope this works for you

Thanks as well to you ts. Have quite a few ways to check this bloody nonsense and hopefully one of them will work.
