on xp home....

Click start, "Set Program Access & Defaults", On the left you should see "Change or Remove Progams", then you should be able to find it there, then click it and click remove.

That's how it should happen anyway. Any problems just post a reply.

not to sound daft but have you tried to uninstalled it,go into control panel then programs and uninstall

I'm so glad i got a mac. I remember the bad old days of not being able to remove stuff without spending hours rooting through the registry doing more harm than good.

Download and run this.

Get rid of Norton first. It's possibly the worst antivirus system in existence. Then go to Control panel > Add or remove programs > Go to the microsoft one > Click remove.
Then run this:

thanks lads, but I have already removed it as you instructed, yet there still seems to be on the pc and pops up,

Probably still in the Registry - did it not have an Uninstall option from Programs?

I work in the IT industry and seen this program lot in the past few months. It is called microsoft antivirus or Vista antivirus 2009. Bloody nightmare. Software rebuild is the only true way to get rid of it. Will only take an hour if you know what your doing.
