Can England win the world cup??

I think England have a chance, Capello seems to know what he's doing. But at the end of the day, they're not in the same class as Brazil, Spain or Argentina. Teams like that could play them off the park.
 
Whoever brought up the climate will play into Englands hands every single player would rather play in 15 - 20 degrees instead of playing in the high 30 degrees so it benefits everyone not just Engerland. Will Engerland win it I cant see it happening. The defence will more than likely fuck you up no top class Keeper a iffy right back and a ageing Ferdinand and Terry has lost that bit of speed.
Add to it the Gerrard and Lampard factor that they cant play together in the same midfield in the big tourments. Also you need somebody up front with Rooney. I think you missed your chance if you would of got to the Euros last year you had a best chance to win it than ever before the players were all playing to there highest standard now they will be declining from that high standard.
The Spanish will be the team to beat that midfield will destroy most teams and with Torres , Villa up front they score goals for fun. Add to that they have a decent defence aswell not the greatest but with there attacking force and midfielders teams will find it hard to get the ball off them.
England at best quater to semi final depending on the draw they get if they come up against the Spanish or Italians then it could be over early never mind the Argies or Brazil dont think Argies will do it with Maradona as manager while Brazil I think if they get there they have a chance but I think it will be the Spanish or Italians lifting the Cup.

Agree, I really don't see how, why, ye think ye can win. It's something that we tend to find amusing if we're not in the tournament, we missed ye in it last season. The English media just gets into such a hype. England this, England that..etc. It's genuinely funny to watch.

Ireland if we qualify, which I hope we do, but knowing these lads they'll manage to screw it up along the way.

But we'll go, no expectations but 110% from everyone, we'll go and enjoy ourselves, a bit of craic, loved the last world cup all those years ago, great craic. The host nations fans were amazing, most fans you meet are.
But we'll go and do our best and see what happens.

But for ye, if it's not being in the final and winning it, it's a massive failure.
 
You guys can certainly win it. Other teams like Spain look better at the moment, but England is getting results under Capello. Probably need a prolific striker to partner Rooney though.

Whether we will though is another question...

Any of the top 4 or 5 nations can win a World cup if other teams slip up and I reckon we're in that bracket. Under Capello we look fantastic, so far, and with luck and few if any injuries we could win it.

Current odds are 7/1... 4th favourites behind Brazil, Spain and Argentina...

About right.
 
not a chance really but always a good piss up then a good moan when we get knocked out...love tournement football for the piss ups
