Are the FA preparing a platform for players to "come out"? They sent this to 92 clubs:

If fans are banned and arrested for racist chants, I expect they have the authority to do the same thing for bigoted/homophobic chants to cut down on abuse on a player he he decides to do it.

10 Racial, homophobic or discriminatory abuse, chanting or harassment is strictly forbidden and will result in arrest and/or ejection from the Ground. The Club may impose a ban for one or more Matches.

its funny this topic has come up as someone i know who works for sports journalism for her uni course has told me that she has it on good authority that one of our players is gay but would never come out due to implications that may arise.

On pure looks alone, which i fully admit is a stupid thing to do, i'd guess at nasri.

80's City player was gay. Someone has his username on here,he is a cult player.

Source, ex City player told me at dinner and another ex City player agreed! I only mentioned his name.
On the whole gay thing it does not bother me. Ask my wife(Stan).

Reading this it seems tone a thread where clever teenagers compete to come up with the most derogatory terms for gay people- how is that allowed the same would not be allowed if they were racist terms!

A few years ago a Californian university did a large survey exposing men who identified themselves as gay , straight but tolerant or straight and homophobic and exposed them to gay porn - the arousal rate in the homophobes was higher than in the gay population - it suggested that most homophobia was actually a kind of self hate!

Football needs to get over it - who cares just about everything else has

im straight, but know a few gay people. so what?

i honestly dont see why its such a big deal..... why do gay people have to declare thier sexuality? it really doesnt matter.

Football is an unforgiving sport, culture and macho, so no I don't think they'll ever come out. I know there have to be players who are out within their team, but I doubt they'll come out to us, and that's their business.

There are two sports people are out. One in rugby, the other in the Irish game, hurling.
Both more forgiving than football I imagine.

Homophobia really is a disgusting human trait. If you're completely comfortable with your own sexuality then you've no need to point the finger at others for being comfortable with theirs. A thread with comments like this would make any Gay footballer think twice about coming out - and that's really sad.

The ironic thing is that the porn watchers probably get off on Lesbian stuff!
