Can we get one thing straight?

You dont think the manager and coaching staff know that?

They don't seem to on the evidence of how the team plays.

They work on one and two touch passing and football all the time

And?

We were off the pace in the 1st half due to the Derby, and in the 2nd we were too frenetic if anything

LOL. What's the excuse for all the other games this season?

Kindly name all the games where we have played to a high tempo and attacked with pace and power for a good proportion of the match.

Name me just 3 games.

Go on.

You won't be able to do it.
Liverpool, Chelsea, WBA

Italy played "negatively" and won the World Cup.

LOL. Who you trying to kid!?

For example - City V Chelsea:

In fairness, it does not help at Eastlands sometimes that City pack their team with so many defence-minded players, but it was strange that such an eagerly anticipated match was so disjointed, even dull, for long spells.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2010/sep/25/manchester-city-chelsea" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog ... ty-chelsea</a>

Played to a high tempo and attacked with pace and power for a good proportion of the match?

Don't think so!

Maybe Liverpool was a bit better.

Try again.

Most impartial observers (not the Guardian!!!) would agree that City overpowered Chelsea's midfield.

You forget that half of City's home games have been against the top teams: Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Arsenal. Against Arsenal we attacked with power and pace for 60 mins with 10 men and were the better team until we ran out of energy. Away we have played very well in fits and starts, but haven't been able to do it for 90 mins.

All in all its a promising start that bears the hallmark of a club in transition. What do you really expect after we bought half a team a few months ago. The media told us it was impossible to assemble a Champions League team like that. Now we are in that position, and they want us to sack mancini because we;re not doing even better. It's a joke. But we will be laughing at the end of the season

FFS - the better teams are more likely to come to COMS and have a go - and those that tend to come off second best - but its the lesser teams that will come to COMS and park the bus - its beating thesae teams home and away that will put us top 4 aand that is the worry

We are in the top 4, and 9 times out of 10 we'd beat Birmingham and you know it. Today we were a little short after the exertions of Wednesday (and the games before) and missed Adebayor, Balotelli and a fit Tevez.

Stop panicing. If we were 10th I'd understand it, but the reasons for the struggles in midweek and today are quite evident and short term

I agree. But that wasn't the question, was it?

I asked which games have we played to a high tempo and attacked with pace and power for a good proportion of the match?

You forget that half of City's home games have been against the top teams: Liverpool,

WTF?! A mid table team who got stuffed by Stoke today? "Top team"?

LOL.

What about the other teams we've played?

Sunderland
Blackburn Rovers
West Brom (Cup)
Newcastle United
Wolves
Lech Poznan
Birmingham City

Did we play to a high tempo and attacked with pace and power for a good proportion of those matches?

No.

Away we have played very well in fits and starts, but haven't been able to do it for 90 mins.

Played well in "Fits and starts"?

Bet the owner is well pleased with that, then. 200M worth of talent which plays "very well" in "fits and starts" and are the lowest scorers in the league.

Nothing to do with awfully defensive tactics and bizarre substitutions, then?

But we will be laughing at the end of the season

It's easy to boast now.

On the contrary it's easy to criticise now. We're a developing team. Surely you'd expect us to play in fits and starts now. 12 months on I'd expect improvement

How many games do Kolarov, Boateng, Silva, Balotelli have between them? These will be regular players for us.

Your criticism is 6 momths premature. I accept we're not playing consistently, but we never ever will if we spend 200 Million every transfer window, and then change the manager inside 12 months expecting it to all click together staight away

And yet we are 4th. And that'w what the majority of you wanted at the start of the season. Please chill out a bit, take a step back and try and enjoy one of the most exciting phases in the rise of Manchester City.

Some of you have a deathwish!

Tell that to the FA.. Maybe they'd give us the 3 points, then.

*SIGH*

Stupid point.

Today we were a little short after the exertions of Wednesday (and the games before)

Ooooooh, so Birmingham didn't play in mid week too, then? And they haven't played games before that, then?

and missed Adebayor, Balotelli and a fit Tevez.

So, despite assembling a squad of over 250M worth of talent, we suffer a couple of injuries and a suspension and the rest of the squad isn't good enough to play well against Birmingham?

Okaaay...

Stop panicing. If we were 10th I'd understand it,

Ok, I'll see you back here in a few weeks then. :)

Birmingham played on Tuesday, and the intensity of a Derby is far greater than that of normal match ie the players run further, and it's mentally, and physically draining. I'd have thought that was obvious. But I keep having to state the obvious so don't bother coming back when you can't take on board simple facts.
