Can We Keep Everyone Happy?

I think Bob has definitely settled into a best 11 mentality over the recent weeks, of course there will be the odd changes however I'd be surprised if anyone disagreed that this is what he considers to be his primary selection....

..................Hart.................
Micah....Vince....Jolene....Clichy
............Yaya....GazBaz.........
...Merlin......................Nasri...
............Aguero...Balo.............

nb. don't take into account formation as I'm well aware it is fluid and changes throughout the game, merely dictating the personnel.

Hate to use the rags as an example however seeing as they are our main challenger it probably makes sense, you would do well to say what bacon's primary selection would be. He chops and changes for fun and even with a huge injury list just seems to be able to keep them all happy - even playing the fuckers out of position doesn't cause any issues.

It's a tricky one for us as I'd be astonished if Edin, Nige, AJ and to a certain degree Milner were particularly happy at the moment as they definitiely seem to be seen as players who fill in when required added to the odd start.

If we only had 10 games of the season left and we were into squeaky bum time then I could understand sticking by a primary 11 however we are too far out at the moment to risk dissention in the ranks.

January is going to be one motherfucker of a tough month and will tell us an awful lot about how well set up we are for the run-in.

I'm confident we will win the Prem but all the cup games (and then the Europa in Feb..) could be our achilles heel.

it's simple; if those players are wanted by other big teams who are willing to pay for them....they are gone. You can't tell me that any player would rather play 8 minutes @City than 90 at Milan, Juve, etc.

-- Tue Dec 27, 2011 7:10 pm --

the problem is that THESE 11 lost us a 5 point lead at the top and are now tied with ManUre. It's obviously not working.

I've been happy with the way we've rotated, and think we'll reap the rewards of that while other teams flounder.

Players will deal with it or move on. No drama IMO.

Agree. It has happened ever since the takeover and will keep on happening.Part of life favourites leaving. As long as City keep on moving forward nothing to worry about.
I like De Jong but can understand why he is not playing.I wonder if we would have this thread if he was playing most weeks.

Not enough rotation in the last month or so IMO but it isn't up to me... I am only surprised that, after speaking about the importance of rotation, Mancini has been reluctant to change much at all about his starting 11. I am no fan of rotating the squad, but even I would rest players like David and Aguero more often than Mancini. Again, though, I'm not the manager and ultimately it's up to him. His ass is on the line, not mine, so what do I know?

Edin will get his run of games in the Europa League, it's then up to him to take his chances and make it difficult for Mancini.

As for Silva, is it a coincidence that his dip in form has been since Nasri has been starting games?..........i think not

I agree, I think he gets in Silva's way at times.

Silva does need a break though, and that was why I assumed we bought Nasri in the first place.

I'm glad i'm not the only one to see this, there's certain runs he was doing earlier in the season that he's stopped because when Nasri cuts inside it takes his space.

Top post Rammy - I tend to agree with all of that.

I guess it's a little too early in the season to worry too much about keeping all the players happy - but as you said, I find it hard to believe that AJ, Dzeko, and NDJ, and to a lesser extent, Milner, are happy knowing that they're not in the best XI.

I fully expected Mancini to have rotated far more in the forward positions than he has done. Makes you wonder just how we'd have kept Carlos happy even if he hadn't spat his dummy in Munich...
