Anyone ever done it?

Regularly cycle down it and see you can canoe it.

Looks like I could buy or hire a canoe fairly cheap. Probably just need a life jacket and wetsuit. Goes from Stockport to Carrington

Seen a few people do it when I use to go running along the mersey from Stockport to Chorlton Water park.

You don't want to do it on a hot day though, the Mersey absolutely reeks!!

It does stop at Carrington, and I know at the weir at Northernden, you have to come out of the water to get around it. But surely you could go further down it??

I really don't know to be honest, it would be interesting, would it not be better to follow it up stream to it's source?

Gives you all the tips around weirs and also the law relating to what you can / cannot do. It states after Carrington there are no exit points and the dangerous weir into the Ship Canal

Friend of mine used to love canoeing the Goyt.

ive done this, we started near vernon park in stockport, some guy was fishing when we was getting in started moaning at us about disturbing his swim i started laughing and he said 'I don't know what your laughing at you have to get out yet' hahaha idiot
