This is all over social media tonight - R/W shills and bots (who I bet do not attend Church) outraged by this. Thing is they were invited to do it and its an exhibition trying to reach out to non attendee's (the shills and bots also moan that the CoE is out of touch and has falling attendances) however its not permanent and will be washed off when the exhibition concludes whereas the raggedy TEMU flags on lamp posts are not replaced by "patriots" to keep the colours flying. Funny that.

But she’s got a blue tick and has uk in her user name…

Churches have exhibitions all the time.

If it hadn’t been Canterbury in the week a new Archbishop of there was appointed, it wouldn’t be news.

Still, it adds to this “masculine Christianity” narrative.

It was vandalised in. 1534 whwn. tubby **** henry had the benedictine monks banished
to put his bollocks new CoE vicars in it

Shame that graffiti doesn’t say stuff like ‘Satan woz here motherfuckers’, or ‘All your base are belong to us - Canterbury Mosque’.

As for the Christian fash who are getting all worked up about it, they should never forget that the Anglican Church has Rowan Williams AND Nick Cave.

Seems a minutiae when compared with the number of cranks from the alumnae from the university of life.

The church is supposed to teach the word of god.
How then, amongst other things, has it been able to circumvent the holy làw of marriage (ie the union of 1 man and 1 woman etc) ?
A law is sacrosanct, surely?!

And don't get me started on the teachings of allah!
(kill everyone who isn't a muslim - ffs).

The Quran. actually prohibids that, in fact it urges followers to respect (and are even permited marry if so inclined) "People of the book" namely Jews and Christians who are worshiper of the same one god.

As with the new testements teachings of tollerance and respect for all races and religions, it is not the book or religion that teaches hate but People who twist and abuse such for their own agenda.

All religions are equally corruptable when used by such a predetary mammal as humanity.

And dit is a sad reflection that in. such modern. times so many choose the wrong interpretations or ignore them altogether (Jihadists in islam, some zionist in Judaism, evangelical christians and hard line Hindus and Budhists)

No idea what you mean by the word shill but the last time I heard, according to The Church of England itself there has been a small increase in congregations in recent years. I know speaking for myself, although I’m not what would be regarded as a regular church attendee, I know I wouldn’t like graffiti written over it, even if it was done by the biggest graffiti addict of them all, Banksy.

Until recent centuries, people of just about every level of society carved graffiti into ancient buildings. It simply wasn’t seen as something to be condemned. The Coliseum in Rome, or Bodiam Castle in England, to take just two examples of key European heritage sites, are covered in centuries-worth of graffiti. Many of these inscriptions were created by members of the upper classes undertaking a ‘Grand Tour’ at the end of their education, and date to the 18th and 19th century.

It is only in the lasts century and a half has grafitti been considered as vandalism
