Capital One Cup Thread 2015/16

Sunderland fan in peace here. Just wanted to say you may not be many fans second team but you are mine. Every since the final when a small group of City fans clapped the fans in the coach I was on (and if you were one of about 4 or 5 stood outside the East Stand and you clapped a blue and yellow coach carrying Sunderland fans thank you. There was only two IIRC.) I have had a soft spot. I was that touched by the sportsmanship showed from that small group of fans. That showed healthy respect. The final was truly an unbelievable and magical experience for me. The best day of my life as a Sunderland supporter. And it merited a truly top notch opposition. You deserved that win. And all the best for this season.

Back to now. I think even your second string team could beat us right now. But Whatmore and this new kid Gooch improved us last night. If they start they could cause problems if your defenders are not awake. Problem is ours isn't too. So long as you can get balls in the final third you will romp it. We have what must be the worst defense in the league. Only John O'Shea seems to be any kind of potent defender. The others are not up to scratch.

You will be OK. First team or no first team.

I think a few people on here have a soft spot for Sunderland after taking the piss out of our neighbours at the SoL when we would the league a couple of season ago. Ah, it was a great cup final, a couple of wonder goals were the difference. Wish you's all the best this season, I hope you's can start putting wins on the board but its not looking good, have a feeling Big Sam will be in charge soon, I don't see Advocaat lasting long.

Hopefully we ended our curse of losing when we come to play you last season.

Welcome mate. Mackems are great supporters and taking the piss out of the rags at the sol was epic.Hope you turn things around.
 
Thanks for the warm welcome. I do think the media and press hardly help matters. When they begin to put you alongside favourite sensationalist claptrap words like 'crisis' is the same ruddy sentence you know things are about to get worse. Every team has had issues. I seem to remember you weren't always this good. I can still remember names like Paolo Wanchope, Darren Huckerby, Sean Goater and Georgio Kinkladze and games at Maine Road v Reading in Division One as recent as 2000.

Put down a paper and watch a game if you want to see where problems in a team are. Watching our League Cup game last night it was patently obvious our problems.
