Captaincy 2016/17 Season- Who Would You Choose?

It's hard to tell. Ordinarily I'd pick someone like Zabaleta, Yaya or Hart - they've all been with us a while, are popular with the fans and squad, and were trusted members of former City teams. But under Pep, who knows who he'll look to.
 
Fernandinho if Kompany is unfit (let's hope he doesn't get horrible injuries anymore). Otherwise this is not even close.
 
Kompany as club captain, he's a fantastic ambassador for City on and off the pitch. Hopefully his injuries will be less of an issue this season.

In Kompany's absence probably Fernandinho, his attitude and work rate are fantastic and you can already tell how much Pep loves him. If Zaba was more likely to start regularly for us he would be my first pick. There isn't a bigger blue in the squad than Pablo!
 
Heard form a good friend of mine who know someone working at the club that Fernandinho will be our new captain for the upcoming season. Make of that what you will.
 
I would choose Fernandihno, took a deep breath before coming to say that but i see others chose him also so not alone. Nothing against Lord Zabba the great and King Kompany but they have not been playing enough to merit it, the captain needs to be playing a lot more than not above most things imo.
 
Bearing in mind it's best to have a captain that features most regularly in the first 11.

After Kompany, I'd have to say Fernandinho also.

If he was a key first 11 starter, Zabba would be vice captain to Kompany every time for me.

After Fernandinho, it'd have to be Hart. Captain has to be a strong personality and a leader which is why Aguero and Silva wouldn't get it for me. Also prefer an outfield captain to a 'keeper to keep players in check and organised.
 
Don't know why Dihno is getting so many votes. He is a fantastic player, but not a captain. I'm going with Joe.

He should be Captain.
 
Find it a bit odd that city didn't use kompany to launch the new away kit on the great wall ,with him being club captain.
I guess he was probably in hospital for the pre shot pictures which would explain that .
Maybe its a sign of change of captain ?

He shouldn't be allowed to walk up steps, he'd only get injured.

Vinny couldn't manage the great wall of my back garden without treatment.
 
Very clever move imo, the team decision may give Pep and his staff an insight into who holds the respect of his team mates and also what they look for in a leader. This could of course be positive or negative, no stone is left unturned with this fella.

A captain needs to have the love and respect of the whole team and all the fans, have no problems with communicating with the team and cope well with pressure. They need to be consistent and come up big in important games. Personally I prefer the captain to be an outfield player because I think they should be involved in the game as much as possible, and a captain's goal is always nice. For these reasons I think the captaincy should go to Fernandinho.

Of course this is only if Kompany can't stay fit. There is nobody in the world I would rather have as captain than Kompany- if he can play more games than he doesn't.
 
Great to hear Pep letting the players decide who the captain will be! Excellent move...as many have said if Kompany not ready to start the season, Fernandinho seems the right person to take that role!
