Car Insurance

Try 3rd party, fire and theft or even fully comp. I was just wondering how much cheaper mine would be just TP,F&T - FC = £690 for 43 year old with full ncd on Range Rover - and it worked out more expensive!

I know it sounds peculiar but insurance companies don't see third party only insurers as a lower risk but more likely to be involved in expensive accidents.

Get him into MILFS - more likely to have their own car and he'll be spending more time at her house - saves you money on the car and food etc. ;-)

Sorry, my mistake, it was third party fire and theft not just third party. Fully comp was nearly £8,000. Daft!

I'll skip the other recommendation, his mum would kill me. :-)

Nearly all 17 yr olds don't have a car.

Now you know one of the main reasons why.

Point taken. I assumed that it was like when I was a lad, which was a long time ago. Everybody got a car at 17/18.

I feel sorry for the youth of today, how the heck are they supposed to build up a no claims bonus. As you said, they probably have to wait a few years.

You must have been loaded.
i couldn't afford a car until I was 24. That was in 1975.

Put you and the missus on his policy as named drivers. It should bring it down a bit.

It's fucking disgraceful that, and from now on whenever I see a lad of 17 in a car I am going to look at them as though they have no insurance. The poster who is quoted £1200 on a T Reg Punto?!!! WTF?! I feel sorry for the lot of you, genuinely.
I am paying £650 a year fully comp on a 04 Vectra SRi. I'm 33, 10+ year no claims and I still think thats steep, well i did until i read this thread anyway! £8000 fully comp?!!! It's gone mental.

its a joke that the insurance companies rip the hole out of youngers drivers when the pensioners who are just as if not more shite at driving get insurance for f*ck all.

Typical moronic comment from a young person. I have personally been driving for over 40 years without a claim. As much as you bemoan the fact young males are responsible for over 30% of the cost of claims whilst only being 2% of the of the insured. I feel we are all suffering because of boy racers who should all be banned. I see no reason why my insurance should go up because of these idiots and I see them every time I am on the road.

DO NOT DISS THE CLARKIE!!!!!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ;-)

I drive an Audi A4 2001, 10 years no claims although i have 6 points. Clocked doing 38mph in a 30mph zone. I'm not a fast driver although was caught by the same fooking camera twice! I pay £470 full comp with Swift Cover although i expect it to rise when my renewal is due in July.

To the OP - Would your son be better off with a scooter?
