Car insurance

Agree that most insurance companies are twats. A lot offer an introductory discount, which automatically results in a big price hike at renewal. They hope you can’t be arsed to shop around.

Can’t guarantee it will work for you but try LV, folks. (Not sure if they subscribe to the comparison sites.) I’ve been with them a few years, check the market every renewal and still find them competitive.
Agreed LV seem good and one of the cheapest.

I got ran off the road by a bus last year in an act of what can only be described as road rage. I phoned my insurance company and they did the square amount of FA and told me to sort it myself, which I did and got 1.5k from the bus company. I’ve just renewed and they ( Hastings ) quoted me £1,399 a year up from £480 as I’d been in an accident. I went mental and they eventually accepted they did nothing and apologised. Still wanted £200 more a year tho and still came out as the cheapest.

I also got ran into by a stoner without insurance and they wouldn’t help me with that and the police said they didn’t class it as a crime so agian has to sort that myself. The whole business is nothing short of a legal scam.

And, was on facebook and Diamond insurance private fucking messaged me. They're not a 'friend' or anything, never mentioned them or visited their site or page. How do the cheeky bastards do that? Then, after telling them to erase all our data from their base the fuckers said well, er, no we don't have to. I mean what the fuck,,,?/

There's not one insurance, car, home, pet that I don't change provider every year at renewal, they are all bastards, and when you explain to providers that the renewal costs are more expensive than an alternate quote they don't give a toss.

I switch gas, electric and broadband/phone providers when the deal is up as well, no one rewards customers for loyalty.

I was with American Express for a long time. When my thirty year membership came up for renewal, all I got was the monthly bill for the annual renewal amount.

I phoned their Customer Services. I explained that as I had been a member for thirty years, I expected some kind of acknowledgment of the fact and perhaps a waiving of the annual fee this time. The person at the other end of the phone was apologetic but said Amex didn't do such a thing. I pointed out that I'd been a member for longer than she'd been on this planet and told her to cancel my membership. Not an eyelid was batted from their side.

Loyalty. Pah!

I've just had a letter from my insurer saying they are increasing my premium by £99.91 on 15 October, for two reasons.

1. My fault for an accident on 27/11/17. I told them the car has never been owned or driven by any member of my family. I now have to contact SAGA to get them to remove my name from the historic claim. (Already did this in 2019, but it's appeared again).

2. A change to an accident on 24/10/17 when someone rear-ended me on the M5. They paid out in full, but now they have decided I was to blame. I have to take this up with whoever insured me at the time.

Fuming. Getting them to change things was a nightmare last time, and I'm not happy about going through it all again - twice.

Had a claim when someone opened their drivers door on me in a busy street. Split 50/50.

At renewal they ‘factored’ the claim in even though I had Maximum No claims bonus and had paid a premium for no claims bonus protection. They said that due to the claim ‘ I was more of a risk’.

Cheeky feckers- went elsewhere.

another time forgot I had recovery included as part of the package. Don’t normally do this but changed job and now use car for travelling to customers for work. Same Insurance company sold me another recovery package 6 months later.
