My wife is having trouble with her Corsa atm as the coil light has come on . Does it need sorting asap or are we ok fir the tine ?

Petrol or diesel?

The petrol 1.2 has a chain driven cam not belt driven so in theory should be bullet proof but some tensioners plastic components can no longer tension and the chain slaps around and and and ..... not great

Never heard it called the coil light before, you mean the engine light ? It could be a host of things. Drive it into a main dealer they will plug their diagnostic meter into it, could be a faulty chip, like a knock sensor.

Coil lights are usually on diesels. On old diesels they came on while the coils were being warmed before the engine would start. That function is still required in cooler climates but the coils also help fuel combustion in other ways. I'm guessing they maintain the cylinder at the correct temperature for maximum combustion efficiency.

Need check oil aswell as if regen has been started and stopped mid cycle (smell hot when you get out) a few times fuel can get into oil evident by level rising.

I don’t drive mate but when she puts the pedal down there is no acceleration . She has changed the turbo under advice but I’ve said to her if she doesn’t get this sorted it’s back to square one. Mot is up in June so we need to get it right before we sell it .
